"It does what a musical is supposed to do; it takes you to another world. And it gives you a little tune to carry in your head. Something to take you away from the dreary horrors of the real world. A little something for when you're feeling blue. You know?"
I saw Lennon in San Francisco and enjoyed every moment of it. Even with the changes that they are going to make, I don't believe you should be worried about any "desecration of your beloved band" Natalie2. There is actually very little in the show about the Beatles (we had Beatlemania for that...doesn't anyone remember that show??) and John's music is performed very well. Julia and Marcy are wonderful as is the entire cast. I had no problem with things in the show that they are now changing for NY, but I'm also looking forward to seeing what they have done with the show. At least I hope I get a chance.

Thanks Cyndy...I won't be so scared anymore. I was just afraid it would be another jukebox musical.
For fans of Beatlemania though...there is a great tribute band that is comprised of the original members of the Broadway show called "Strawberry Fields" here is their information: http://www.strawberryfieldsthetribute.com
Really? It "looks" terrible or you've heard it's terrible?
I for one, haven't seen it -- let's give it a chance.
I went with a friend who was a huge fan of the Beach Boys to see Good Vibrations. While he admitted it was the worst show he had ever seen, he had no regrets because he's such a fan of the music. I think, in some cases, the hardcore fans are sometimes the easiest to please.
It opens in previews this week. I, for one, am going to buy a ticket. Do I have my doubts? Yes. Do I have hopes? Yes. Let's give these performers a chance to simply begin previews before we begin rendering judgement. I've heard that they've reworked quite a bit of it since San Francisco.
I've heard they're doing rush. I'll see anything for under $30.
I also saw Lennon when it was here in San Francisco, and loved every second of it. I ended up seeing it 4 times! I'm not sure how it'll work on New York, but here in San Francisco, since the band is on stage, they took out the pit and put 2 rows of seats on top, the front one about 3 feet from the stage, and sold those seats for $25 each 2 hours before show time. If they do that in New York, I STRONGLY encourage you guys to go for them! I saw it twice from those seats and twice from farther back in the orchestra, and when I was sitting up close I felt this great connection with the cast members, and like I was really involved in the show, and that made me enjoy it all the more.
Julia Murney....YAY.......But how about we also acknowledge the rest of this cast, there are some other fantastic voices involved with this show...Terrence Mann, Mandy Gonzalez, Will Chase...HELLO! There are some pretty great people involved, and while I am not overly enthusiastic about the show itself, I would love to have the opportunity to hear the amazing vocals that this cast is capable of!
Later!
