I know that Idina's tattoo in Rent isnt real But I simply adore it and think it is really cute. I have been thinking about getting a tattoo for a while and im seriously considering that. But I don't remember exactly what it looks like, and its not in the theatre any more so I can't go see it again. If anyone can describe it in detail to me or if anyone has a pic ( i know thats wierd to get a pic of someone's rear end but... lol) I'd appreciate it! thanks!

why not be original and with a tattoo artist come up with your own idea that suits you? Copying someones elses tattoo is tacky, and many artists will not do it if they know it came from someone else.
Geez, Elphaba is now a tatoo expert. What will be next??!
Why would they care if it was someone else's tattoo? Many people have the same tattoos, and obviously there wasn't a problem there. Is a tattoo artist seriously gonna be like, "Ooooh. I saw that on Idina Menzel's butt. I'm not doing it."? No.
namflug, I have 5 tattoos and have quite a few friends who are tattoo artists, the one thing most will NOT do is copy someone elses work.......they consider it stealing. They will take a design and make it their own, by changing things, but they will not copy someone elses work.
nam, how many tattoos do you have?
almost you are totally wrong......any tattoo artist worth their work will not copy anothers designs.......it's just not done. At the very least they will change it enough to make it their design......
Well it seems logical to believe that in the world there are people with the same tattoos. Think how many people have cartoon characters, or tribal bands that are all the same.
Anyway, sorry, I don't have a picture of the tattoo but I'm sure you can find one somewhere online.
oh you people.......as you can go to McDonalds for a burger, you can also go to a cheap, crappy tattoo parlor, that only tourists would go to (and get cookie cutter tattoos done that every teenager on the block could get). People who are seriously into tattoos go to true tattoo artists, and AGAIN (and you all seem to just not get this)...THEY WILL NOT COPY EACH OTHERS WORKS........it is considered unprofessional.
I even had one in San Francisco who would not re-color one that someone else did when it started to fade, which I thought was extreme.
They were basically an alignment of segmented stars, if I remember correctly. But no, I can't go into detail of alignment of the stars, I just remember thinking...hey I have shoelaces that match the stars on Maureen's bum! Going under the needle to have a faux constellation reduplicated on your ass, not HOT.

all i can say is that Idina looked madddddddddddd hott in the movie.
But your point is? She's not trying to get a art piece done on her body. She liked a tattoo that she saw and wants that done. She's not trying to make a statement, be creative or contribute to the art portfolio of a particular tattoo artist.
She is chosing to put a design on HER body that she finds appealing. Who cares if it is done in a touristy place or something someone else would get? If that's what she wants, then more power to her. I have a tattoo which I like a lot, but I'm not seriously into tattoos nor did I care where it got done (beyond the cleanliness/sanitary factor)
what is the point of spending money and time to get something every other person has. That's just crazy. Tattoos are not cheap, and you are stuck with it for your entire life, unless you spend MORE and endure a lot of pain to get rid of one.
Why not make something your own?
I guess you can be one of the crowd, or you can defy gravity......I choose to defy gravity.....(and now after that cute little Wicked comment I am going to go throw-up)

Why would you allow a tattoo artist to "take a design and make it their own, by changing things" when "you are stuck with it for your entire life, unless you spend MORE and endure a lot of pain to get rid of one"?
Shut up. Let her do what she wants.
Elphaba, is right about true tattoo artists not wanting to copy each others work. Having said that, there are plenty of people out there just trying to make a living, and they will put anything anywhere that you want it. Remember all of those cheesy tribal bands that every guy was getting on their bicep a couple of years ago.
yeah I have to agree with Elphaba, the true artists don't like to copy other people's work. I know my artist doesn't like it. But I think if that's the ink she wants to get, then rock on go for it. It's your body, do what you want.

Most artists won't copy eachother's work (nor should they...alot of time and expense goes into personal pieces to make them unique to the wearer and it's unfair to just rip them off) but Maureen's Rent tattoo was pretty much flash...it looked like three black and red nautical starts to me, which are very common designs. They were slightly out of alignment and each was a different size as I recall...once again, that tattoo wasn't original or custome, it was flash (which is the generic stuff you find on the walls of tattoo studios). So for something like that...I say go right ahead.
This is crazy! perfectlypink asked her for a description or a picture of a specific tattoo. If someone has it, send it to her; if you don't you don't. She can find out on her own whether she really wants it or if her tattoo artist will replicate it. I have six tattoos myself, all chosen by me for a special reason and while my tattoo artist wouldn't copy someone else's work, maybe perfectlypink's does and that is fine with her.
Anyway, I don't have a picture or description of it for you. I'm sure you'll make the right decision for yourself perfectlypink.
Wow. the crazy Idina fan-ness has reached a new level...I thought that eyelash thing was bad..
Um. Stage Addict. Considering the tatoo is NOT Idina's (she doesn't even have any), it's just Maureen's in the movie...how exactly is asking about the tatoo "crazy Idina fan-ness" reaching a new level? It's not Idina's tatoo. Or idea. Maybe perfectly pink just liked it? Why would you jump to a stupid conlusion like yours?
Wholy moly... I did not expect this! First off:
Idina's tattoo is not real. THERFORE how am I copying someone else's work?
Second
Im not a HUGE or die hard Idina fan... I do enjoy her quite a bit but that is NOT why I want the tatto. I have been thinking about it for quite a while, and not knowing what I wanted, I thought about a comedy and tragedy mask but I saw that and just LIKED it. Is that a crime? Have you not ever seen someone else's hair cut and liked it? or car? Unless you have NEVER gone out and bought something after seeing a commercial for it, than you can't knock me for "conforming" or anything else like that. I am not a conforming person, and I resent being "judged" that way.
Third
I have decided that it seems like a lot of people on this board are here just for the sake of argument. Posting should be fun. I asked a simple question, all I needed was a simple answer. You don't know me, and I don't know you. I don't judge you, and I would appreciate the same in respect. Apparently no one has ever heard the old phrase "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all." Frankly, at this point I don't have anything nice to say so guess what? I WON'T! "nuff said.
oh I give up....the mentality of most on this post (not all) is sub-human......please run with the lemmings
Oh for---this is why I stopped posting people.
this is rediculous
try Google Images
but don't search Idina Menzel
try searching Fake movie tattoos or movie make-up, fake Tattoos.
think outside the box
you'll find it
It was a simple question, only required a simple response...or no response at all. No goading, no judgement, no making one to feel small and/or uneducated about tattoos. How hard is that? Quite a bit, evidently.
Pink, do whatever you want and be happy; it was a cute tattoo. And if I was into that I'd merrily 'COPY' whatever design I liked well enough to have on my body for life.
thank you!! And though is is extremely tempting, I will refrain from sending any negative remarks "elphaba's" way. Happy holidays.

I knew it was only a matter of time before a post like this cropped up.
As for your argument about not copying someone elses design because it's not a real tattoo... well, you still are because SOMEONE designed it. It actually is a true blue tattoo design that they stuck on Idina for the movie.... the artist who did my tattoo had a design somewhat similar to it on his wall.
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...
"nam, how many tattoos do you have?"
You make it sound like having tattoos is an admirable or attractive thing. It's not an exclusive club, dear.
