I just saw the show again tonite--my 3rd time (I thought this would be a great first Broadway show for my mom).
I think the current cast is excellent, but the books scenes really need some tightening--folks need to pick up the cues. But aside from that, it's still the same great show that I saw back with the OBC.
John Pinette(Edna)--a lovely Edna. Very funny.
Shannon Durig(Tracy)--did a great job. Nice voice and good dancer!
Blake Hammond(was on for Wilbur)--nice job; really played well off of Pinette
Darlene Love(Mabel)--unbelievable singer
Tevin Cambell(Seaweed)--kicked butt on his songs
Leah Hocking(Velma)--absolutely delicious
Tracy Miller(Penny)--great voice, very funny
Andrew Rannells(Link)--pretty voice; "It Takes Two" was still heartmelting
The Dynamites sounded awesome--especially my girl, Carla Hargrove!
And, I have to mention one ensemble member that really stuck out as a kickass singer and actress--Donna Vivino. She was really captivating.
I just love the score for this show--Shaiman, you need to get a new show out soon! I can't wait!
I love my pal Donna. Glad you had a good time. I took my folks to see this one last year. A great time was had by all.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who noticed her!
Donna, if you are single and wanna date a mostly gay guy, call me!

I work at the Neil Simon, and people are always asking about the girl in the ensemble who wears the green. haha
It's her solo after "Mama I'm a Big Girl Now" that causes people to swoon.
Yup. That would be the moment I fell instantly in like.
She is also a very good Tracy.

I believe I saw Donna as Shelley and she lit up the stage whenever she was on it.
"a mostly gay guy"....LMAO
I love Hairspray
that's all I got
Like the way she savors Velma's advice about polaroids in the jail scene. Simple and delicious.
everytime I've seen Hairspray Donna has stood out. I loved seeing her as Prudy, she was very good!
She's only gone on as Tracy once but I hope she gets more chances soon. for the one time she went on, she was apparently sensational.
glad you enjoyed the show!

I saw her go on as Prudy/Matron/Gym Teacher one night and she very good. I would love to see her as Tracy.
You obviously haven't heard MY "It Takes Two"...hah. I'm relentless.
But I am glad to hear that the show is being properly upkept.

I've only seen her in OPPOSITE OF SEX but was quite impressed with her small role(s) in that. Great singer, great comic timing, and great looking.
Also, a great gal!
Oh, Akiva, I've no doubt your "It Takes Two" would make me melt into a pool of mushy goo.
Well, let's just add Donna to the list of folks who deserve to be big stars (Anika Larsen would be an example of one on that list).
I've never seen Donna, but I'd love to. Most of the Shelly's I've seen have been amazing, such as Natalie Hill and Leslie Kritzer, so I'll have to see how she holds up.
Who doesn't love Carla?

I believe Donna went on once as Tracy while out on tour and heard she was AMAZING.
Just heard Akiva's rendition of "It Takes Two" and it was mighty fine!

and as for this new Shelley, if I go on Wednesday, maybe I'll have to look out for her.
Hah,
Jerby...hope you got a chance to resolidify and collect yourself properly in time for the holidays.

I did, but everytime I see your picture, I have to start all over again
Well,
To be fair I don't quite look like that any more. I shaved my head into a mohwak and have an eyebrow piercing. I'm a little less clean cut than that picture.
