This has probably been asked before, so i apologise, but i wondered how younger stars ie. Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth and older stars i.e Angela Lansbury and Bernadette Peters would have got paid for their roles throughout B'way history. Thanks for any help, xx

than everybody gets paid more than you. But really, i have no clue how much they get paid.
Yes, Idena, it has been asked many times before and it never stops being a rude question.

And while we're at it, why don't YOU tell us all how much you make?

how not sure how accurate this is but i heard that when idina was with wicked she made about $500,000 a week.
Slacker
Please. I don't get out of bed for less than $500,000.
And I'm an office manager.
I thought that was what they paid to keep you IN bed, Rath?
Oh, that's a different contract altogether.
Ain't no way Idina was making half a million dollars a week. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Julia Roberts was making about $50,000 a week when she was doing Three Days of Rain... and she's JULIA ROBERTS.
Do a search. This has been discussed at length before.

OK,seriously. When Idina started in WICKED, she was being paidsomewhere in the $5000 a week range. When she won the Tony, her salary went to around $10,000.
The only people who are getting more than $10,000 a week are "stars" - meaning celebrities who are known by the average Joe on the street - and not just theatre fanatics. People like Julie Andrews, Hugh Jackman, Matthew Broderick, etc. make $20,000 or more. They are worth it because people will actually buy a ticket based on their name recognition. The number of people who will go to a show specifically because Idina Menzel is in it is very, very tiny.
If your name is Idina Menzel, you should know!
Idina... can I have your autograph?!
I was told by a connection of mine that Elphaba gets paid approximately $40,000 a week, but I don't know how true that is...
Not a chance in hell that is true.
my personal thought: i would figure it all depends on what show your doing and who you are. John T is playing lumiere im sure he is getting a big paycheck for being known and experience and being in BATB but someone who is new and in a new show probably isnt making alot but its probably decent.
It did seem a little unrealistic to me, but I wasn't sure considering how much they make off of that show every single week...

Here's a list of some of the ones mentioned:
Idina in Wicked:
Pre Tony: $7,500
Post Tony: $12,500
Julia in 3 Days:
$25,000 (plus I believe up front of around $50,000 and per diem)
Denzel in Julius:
$20,000 (he took a bit of a cut, he could have gotten double)

The Glinda's and Elphaba's in Wicked get around $6,000 a week. I believe Ana Gasteyer got more, closer to $10,000.
ucjrdude902, John T. is not a name, nobody who saw Beauty saw it cause he was in it, that's just ridiculous.
Minimum for principals is typically $2500, but leads usually get closer to $4000 or $5000 (for musicals at least), bigger the name, bigger the salary obviously.
Laura Bell Bundy is gonna be getting around $7500 a week for Blonde, and should she get a Tony nom, it will bump up and should she win, it will bump up higher (Tony clauses are typical in contracts for the principal actors).
"Laura Bell Bundy is gonna be getting around $7500 a week for Blonde, and should she get a Tony nom, it will bump up and should she win, it will bump up higher "
There is so much wrong with that statement. She probably won't even be nominated. Even if she is nominated hell would have to freeze over for her to win.

And how about off-Broadway actors ? Do they get Equity scale or is that a different contract altogether ?

Oh god, just stop. I was just stating the facts, about salaries and contracts, what THIS thread is about.
Do you know for sure who is gonna win? let alone be nominated? I'm sure you are a crazy GG fan, but just give it a rest. I said "should" because of course she might not.

Yeah, there is a different contract for Off-Broadway productions.
On Broadway, the minimum is $1465, for Off, I think it's like $950 or something like that?
