My family and I went to Legally Blonde on April 13th. It was wonderful. Two men, two women (young and older) and we LOVED it. It was fun and funny and very well presented. Laura Bell Bundy as ELLE ( in my opinion) was wonderful. The ablility to be on the stage and singing and dancing nearly the entire time was a feat in itself. I smiled from almost the first minute. My face was sore from smiling( I could not stop). Laura Bundy is extremely talented. she sings beautifully and brings so much energy to the roll. Her comedic timing is impeccable. I cannot wait to see it again.

I agree with you 100%. From the second Annaleigh opens her window in the Delta Nu house i was smiling. I also have to admit my jaw may have dropped during :"What You Want."

I'm very glad you liked it. I hoped to see it on the 29th - as it is also my birthday .... but school and parents don't seem to coincide with my wishes *sigh*

Sorry to disagree, but I really hated every minute of this show. The music is earsplittingly loud and completely unmemorable. The lyrics, barely intelligible, are inane and banal. The dancing is crass and vulgar. I left the theatre in the middle of the second act and headed to the nearest Duane Reade for some Excedrin, wishing I'd had my $75, and two hours, back.

I saw Legally Blonde this past Sunday night with some friends from out of town. We all thoroughly enjoyed it (and we vary in age by some 20 years!). Nothing life changing, but a big, fun, evening.

There is still some trimming that looks like it could be done, but they are still in previews. The audience certainly dug it.

Why is it that whenever someone says they enjoyed a show there must always be a person who calls the poster a shill? Is the only opinion on this board negative? We are all supposed to hate everything?

Oh my god, I really hope you're that disapproving octogenarian my friend heard mutter "more PORN than THEATRE" as we were leaving the show.

Cuz if you are? Most entertaining moment we had in that theatre.

"More porn than theatre"?! Hilarious. I wish I'd seen him so I could've suggested he go see Spring Awakening next. Heh.

I saw the show Saturday night and was thoroughly disappointed. My main gripe was with the writing. Unless one is familiar with the (rather mediocre, yet entertaining) film, you would be completely lost.

We were sitting in the 4th row, center mezzanine and we had A LOT of trouble deciphering lyrics. The whole murder trial set-up was among lyrics that Callahan had to sing, and since the sound was so bad, the plot -- although ridiculous and simplistic -- was hard to follow. The book writer obviously tried to fit as much in as possible, but plot-wise, it was a complete mess.

Performances were strong, but mostly unremarkable. Laura Bell Bundy did well. Christian Borle, who I admire greatly, was wasted in a thankless role. (I still think he should be playing the Marty Feldman role in YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, but Roger Bart snagged that one.) Kate Shindle was very good. Michael Rupert was Michael Rupert. Orfeh was pretty good, but she's given some bizarre-ass Irish number that makes no sense.

The score, very obviously written by the BAT BOY composer, was for the most part just loud. There was nothing new or original about it at all. For a couple of the songs, it seems as though they just kept the music from BAT BOY and put in some LEGALLY BLONDE-related lyrics.

I had heard such great things from their out-of-town tryout that my hopes were, perhaps, too high. Maybe, since they're still in previews, they'll clear things up.

Sad when my favorite parts of the show were the two dogs!

This is probably one of the shilliest threads about Legally Blonde all around. Both the positive and negative sentiments reek of some sort of 'agenda'.

You're right, FosterChild, I have an agenda. My agenda involves really, really liking the show and wanting other people to see it and hoping they like it too. Scooter's agenda involves disliking the show and sharing his/her opinions as such. Lots of people have agendas similar to those two, or somewhere in between -- and then there are people whose agendas involve accusing everyone else of having an agenda.

Ahhh, message boards. Gotta love 'em.

As hard as it might be for any of us to deal with, no one cares what any of us thinks. I've said it time and again and it won't influence the critics one way or another as they don't frequent these boards, again, as hard as that might be to accept. As for Blonde being porn, that's about the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. It's about as close to being a G-rated musical as ever there's been.

The ablility to be on the stage and singing and dancing nearly the entire time was a feat in itself.

Imagine that! On stage, singing and dancing the entire time, in a Broadway musical! Talk about a feat. Hand it the Tony.

If you guy's look at all of the posts that this poster has made on this board you will see that they all relate to praising LEGALLY BLONDE and Laura Bell Bundy's performance in various LEGALLY BLONDE-related and non-LEGALLY BLONDE-related threads. Quotes such as the one I listed above display blind praise**. That's when the shill can't come up with anything of substance with which to shower praise, so they state the obvious and use words like "good!" "great!" "amazing!" over and over and hope it sticks with people who cannot comprehend criticism beyond that of the folks over at "Word of Mouth."

**See the PIRATE QUEEN praise threads for more examples.

Why would I have an agenda?. Honestly I do not care what most of you regular board users say or think. I have posted on occasion because I thought someone may look at this board to see if they may want to go to a musical. I have told people repeatedly that I love NYC it is one of my favorite places. I took my family there to share my passion. We went to a musical.I loved it. WE loved it.. omigod what a sin that someone liked a musical.
I did not think you wanted to know everything I felt about it. I liked Orfeh and her part. I adored the jump rope number. Gay or European was a howl. I am not promoting this for a Tony or anything like that. Sometimes I just say things as I think them and then wait for all of you nay sayers to tell me how stupid I am. I am not leaving this board and if I want to comment again I might do so. I tell people on a daily bases how nice new yorkers are. friendly, helpful and kind. that is NOT my opinion of a lot of mean negative people on this board. why can't we just be happy and enjoy what is good. Are you in a musical or is that the problem????
