Woth her raves out of town, and the raves that are sure to follow her to this production, what are the chances of getting yet another Gypsy disc?
Oh god, I hope so.
Some may argue that there are plenty of Gypsy discs out there, but Lupone's Rose needs to be recorded.
That would make me a very happy boy.
Oh God, that would make me so happy if they did.
I think the chances are pretty slim, but wouldn't it be nice?
If we can get studio recordings of Annie Get Your Gun, Brigadoon, Cabaret, et all, I'm SURE we can get a recording of Patti LuPone in Gypsy. I would hope SOMEONE would jump on that bandwagon.

Sorry Question thats a bit off subject. I was wondering if anyone knew where the stage door/ actors come out at City Center. I'm dying to get Patti to sign my playbill for gypsy. Any help is wonderful thanks in advance.
If you look the the billboard best-sellers cast album chart you will see that generally the top 15 cast albums each week are from shows currently running. The LuPone GYPSY is a limited engagement. Even if they were to rush-release the CD the window for maximum sales activity would be small.
Sony/BMG has two versions of GYPSY out (Merman and Lansbury)
Warner has the Tyne Daly Revival and the Bette Midler TV cast
Rhinio has a CD re-release of the Warner Bros film soundtrack
EMI has the recent Benadette Peters revival
Maybe PS Classics would consider it? or Ghostlight?
With six GYPSY Cd's currentlt in print, you would think the market would be saturated. But there are ten KING AND I discs and nine SOUTH PACIFIC discs out there.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
And God knows how many Les Miserables CDs are available.

There can never be too many "Gypsy" Recordings or too many "Gypsy" revivals. I only wish Patti could extend or take it on tour to San Francisco!
Oh, please let this happen!
One of my personal favorites (for all the wrong reasons) is the cast recording of the 1993 Mexican production, with legendary Mexican diva Silvia Pinal (as Mama Rose) and her daughter, rock star Alejandra Guzman (as Louise/Gypsy Rose Lee).
The English to Spanish translations are impeccable.
Oh PLEASE!
I would venture slim to none. It's just a three week run, and there are, by my count, six english language cast recordings & soundtracks of Gypsy. It just wouldn't sell.

I saw the Ravinia production and LuPone's performance is so incredible that it really SHOULD be preserved on CD. Of course, that doesn't mean it really will happen.
Her "Rose's Turn" alone was the most searing version I've ever witnessed.
It'll probably transfer to London and get recorded.
Good point, ahmelie. Too bad the rest of the cast will be different from the City Center cast.
I just sent Kurt Deutsch an e-mail. You never know. They've recorded City Center stuff before.

My guess would be yes. Patti has a fairly recognizable (sp?) name from "Life Goes On", and, given the fact every show she's done in New York or London, one night concerts aside, has been recorded, I would not be suprised to see it happen. True there are several recordings out there, but, good God, if we can have a gazillion Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Les Miz, and Phantom cast recordings, one more Gypsy can't hurt.
I would love to see that!!
Not that there won't be a few b**tleg recordings....
^ An official recording would be a lot better than an illegal sh*tty quality bootleg recording.
