I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...
"Every day has the potential to be the greatest day of your life." - Lin-Manuel Miranda
"And when Idina Menzel is singing, I'm always slightly worried that her teeth are going to jump out of her mouth and chase me." - Schmerg_the_Impaler
I also enjoy The Light in the Piazza's, Nine's, and Follies' overtures.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
Annie - I absolutely love the simplicity of the trumpet solo and eventual trombone counterpoint
Annie Get Your Gun (1966 Lincoln Center version) - The first show I played, and still one of my favorite overtures; it transforms all of the melodies so deliciously, and serves as an epitome of the classic Broadway overture
Light in the Piazza - No other show can literally take my breath away, right from when harp arpeggios start
Titanic - I love the cross-relations at the beginning, and the big, lush sound that returned with this show after having been missing for several years
I really love the Drowsy Chaperone overture. I think Jesus Christ Superstar is the ultimate overture. Gotta love Piazza's overture.

ATTENTION FANS: I will be played by James Barbour in the upcoming musical, "BroadwayWorld: The Musical."
1. GYPSY (as a child this was all my mom played. I can sing the entire thing through). 2. DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS (sets a nice mood for the show, nice, upbeat, fun). 3. TITANIC (its so uplifting and haunting at the same time).

Seriously, any Jule Styne overture is pretty awesome. In fact, there are a couple of cd's out devoted entirely to Styne overtures---I believe the titles of the cd's are "Everything's Coming Up Roses" and "I'm the Greatest Star."
