I posted this in another thread, but it sort of got lost in the middle.
From the The Little Mermaid Playbill: "Future projects in development include The Man in the Ceiling, featuring original book author Jules Feiffer and composer Andrew Lippa, and a stage adaption of Peter and the Starcatchers, a novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson."
I would love to see Disney do a stage adaption of Hercules or Aladdin. They are fantastic films. Who knows, maybe Jonathan Freeman could play Jafar again. =)
^That would be much better than the nothing-of-a-role he has in TLM right now.
If I recall, they said in an article recently that the head of Disney Theatricals was here to stay, and also that there was another major musical they were working on that wasn't based on any Disney films (that's all that was said about it).
I think that Mulan would be an AMAZING broadway show. The story would be serious enough for parents to take seriously, and it has alot of depth and deals with rather heavey issues such as war, love, courage, etc. Plus visually I feel it would be extremely gorgeous if they did it the right way.
I think PETE'S DRAGON would be a great story to adapt for the stage.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

eisner was the reason for disneys early good fortune . shoe mocker is clueless. This is karma coming back to bite him on the a@# for the bad way he treated the final company of beauty and the beast.. He could not wait to put the final nail in that coffin cuz it was eisners baby.. So Tom my prediction for you and anything you bring to broadway . Flop flop and flop.
Apparently it's being done on their cruise ships this summer.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks." Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
My teacher at my school is Eisner's cousin. He knows him really well.
He had told me that the reason why he got hired by disney is because he is goot at marketing the hell out of all thier movies and continued to do that with thier shows.

Tom Stoppard's Rock N Roll
And I hear they are bringing back a sanitized version of RENT.
No one dies, and everyone has enough money for their bills.
