Hopefully there's a video available. They posted they put up a memorial in the lobby for Curry.

Beautiful.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. Don't forget Cher. She turned 80 in May.

Re: Tim Curry has passed away at age 80

I wrote this tribute to Tim Curry after I found out about his passing today:

I know Tim Curry was much more than his role in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, but it’s the role that I most associate him with.

I believe I first encountered TRHPS once I departed my smallish hometown to attend university in 1985 to finish my last two years of my bachelors degree.

There I encountered other students (most of them pursuing degrees in the creative arts) that shared some of my interests (Prince, Stevie Nicks, etc.), but also broadened my exposure to other artists and works of art I hadn’t experienced before. TRHPS definitely fell into this latter category.

I remember on weekends, we’d sometimes drive to the legendary midnight screenings in Oklahoma City. As a kid who never felt “cool” or “edgy” in high school, it meant something to me to be included with my college friends who all seemed to be more hip than I was, even if I sometimes suffered from imposter syndrome.

I wasn’t completely out-of-the-closet then (that was still many, many years away). But this gave me a way to be somewhere in between. TRHPS was a safe place - no need to identify your sexual orientation. No need to explain or try to fit into larger societal expectations.

Sometimes I might have temporarily dyed my hair purple for the night. Sometimes if I had gone home for the weekend, my friends would pick me up at my childhood home on the way to the cineplex. I know my poor, conservative parents were perplexed by my odd outfit and colored hair, but to their benefit, they kept their comments to a minimum.

So thanks, Tim Curry. Thank you for Dr. Frank-N-Furter and so many roles across a vast career that both helped people escape their worries for a couple hours and sometimes even catch a glimpse of parts of themselves that they aren’t quite brave enough to claim, just yet.

Yesterday was an icon.
Today is iconic.
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

Re: Tim Curry has passed away at age 80

Long before I ever saw Rocky Horror Picture Show, Tim Curry broke my gay little brain in the one-two punch of CLUE and his role as The Grand Wizard (shoulda changed that but ya know...) in The Worst Witch. The man sharpened my love of camp to a fine point.

I loved seeing Curry making the round during the 50th RHPS celebrations. He still had his signature wit and cheekiness. What a singular performer!

Although, given his health struggles, this is perhaps less of a shock than Parton, it is still just such a crushing blow.

Both Curry and Parton shared a similar quality of being immensely talented and taking what they did seriously, yet always seeming to just truly relish what they were doing. They loved doing their art, took great joy in it, and that was just palpable.

Re: Tim Curry has passed away at age 80

When I was a freshman in college, coming from a very small town, from a very small High School in Illinois, one of the first "welcome" activities planned was projecting "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" onto the wall of the Main Hall, with all of us seated and watching from the quad.

The movie had been released about a year earlier and did not do well.

Everything about it was unknown, including the cast. Midnight screenings were not popular yet, and neither was audience participation.

That experience was revelatory for me, and throughout his career, Tim Curry has always been "that actor from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" to me.

It probably doesn't matter to you, but I am extremely disappointed (and saddened) by your choice.

Uh oh! Dad is lecturing Theatre Fan again. Hahahahahahahahahaha.

Tim Curry is a legend and he was always sensational. The stoke he had 12 years ago was completely devastating, and he never walked again. I'm glad he's out of pain and free. He leaves an amazing legacy behind. Rest in Paradise, Sweet Tim.

I bought that album way back in the 70s as well, and I still regularly listen to songs from it in my music library. It contains several great tracks.

As a millennial, I first came to know and love him as the voice of Nigel on The Wild Thornberrys.

This clip of him as Ebenezer Scrooge with the cast of Madison Square Garden's A Christmas Carol during Macy's Parade in 2001 really hits differently.

Given her health and her age, this is not a surprising revelation - so did not and should not have been voiced (IMO).

It probably doesn't matter to you, but I am extremely disappointed (and saddened) by your choice.

Should your prediction become reality, I choose to believe that you have enough civility within you to not point up any notion that you were "right".

I hope I haven't also made a mistake in my thinking.

Immediate flashbacks of those midnight showings of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" at the TLA Cinema on South Street in Philly back in the late 70's.

I remember in '79 he released the album "Fearless". They ran the video for the single "I Do The Rock" , along with "Paradise by the Dashboard Light", before the movie. I ran out and bought the album after the first night they showed it. Haven't listened to it in a long time but it will be playing today.

May he rest in peace.
