beautywickedlover-what was so amazing about it? I saw the late, great Laurie Beechman in the 1980s and she was AMAZING. It wasn't an over the top, hammy performance that was clearly directed to win an award.

I think maybe the censors were afraid of what she might say, rather that what she actually did say. They live in fear of upsetting the good folks of middle America. I hope Sally Field gets a chance to let rip again.

Ben Affleck's snub is going to be the Ron Howard in Apollo 13 moment of this new decade. Hopefully he makes better films better than Ron Howard post-Apollo 13.

First season TV shows usually do well at the Globes. I doubt Modern Family is in real danger.

I guess I'm just the lone voice in the wilderness saying I didn't love her performance (even my mom disagrees with me). But, I am entitled to that opinion. Just as you are entitled to think she was good.
At least now we won't have to hear every year how she's never won the Oscar.

^ It would've been nice to see Bradley win, but Hugh worked so hard for this role and he really did give an excellent performance.

I thought Anne brought so much depth the role. There was so much emotion when she was singing and she grown into such a lovely actress. I really did feel the pain that Fantine was going through.

The only year Modern Family has won the Globe was last year, the first two years Glee won because the HFPA was trying to be relevant. So I wouldn't really say dethroned until something else wins the Emmy.

I liked the performances in Silver Linings Playbook a lot better than the movie itself. Jennifer Lawrence does rule all, though.
