The Golden Globes is so distant from a momentum setter that it is funny when it is considered one. SAG awards and critics choice are better tent poles.

Yeah, this will not be a momentum builder to the Oscars. I don't think any of the odds changed after tonight. Still Lincoln in prime position because of the rare BP winners without a Best Director nod. People like Tarantino actors who deliver Tarantino dialogue. And still Jennifer vs. Jessica for Best Actress.

I saw Argo and agree with it winning. It was a surprise because everyone thought Lincoln was such a lock. Obviously they were wrong

This is not the Oscars. This is not the awards to get too worked up over. Django, Zero Dark Thirty, and Argo have very little shot at Best Picture because only 3 films-- THREE!!!!-- have won Best Picture without a Best Director nomination.

I loved Chastain in 'The Help' and I'm glad that she is getting recognized for her acting, but I am not sure if I want to see 'Zero Dark Thirty' because I hear that the torture scenes are very difficult to watch.

Regarding the torture in ZD30,I'm quite squeemish but I dealt with it just fine. The bombings are more startling.

There's stripping a detainee, a scene of a confinement box, dehumanizing scenes involving a dog collar, a feeding tube you see for a split second, and water boarding. The portrait critics are painting like this is a SAW movie are incorrect. It's all in the first half-hour since the movie operates on a timeline and stops when the characters know it could get them in trouble.
