I'm not sure exactly what Queenie's abilities' rules are.
Bastien almost killed her, as that was everyone's worry, but if she hurts herself she is always okay and someone else suffers. I'm not sure how she'll heal her brains from across the room, though.
Cohesive? Really? This season is a mess. It's all over the place. Too many characters, too little character development, and too many story lines. ASYLUM was leagues above this. I'm still a fan of the show and will continue to watch, but, for me, this season has been a big disappointment. Such a wasted opportunity with this cast.
This. All of this. Furthermore, the sheer lack of consequence from anything that's happened in the last 9 episodes (now including Cordelia's sight) has left me feeling completely indifferent. I hope the final stretch ups the stakes considerably.
There...
Phyllis, I agree re the rules of Queenie's power, the rule seems to be whatever will fit with what the writers want it to be at that point. I still
think (given Murphy's inclinations) that the ending worked as yet another way to undermine blackness, whatever the logic he decided to use to justify it.
The whole thing with Cordelia's eyesight was ridiculous. Also, does Cordelia have any actual powers beside ming potions? And were they adding Cordelia to the mix of possible supremes when Misty called her a leader or am I reading too much into it?
Did Queenie use one of the witch hunter's guns to shoot herself? I was unclear on where the gun came from. If she used his, she would be dead as of now because it was a silver bullet meant to kill a witch. Probably.
I doubt the writers have any idea what Queenie's abilites are, either--they don't seem to have any clear rules for any of the witches.
I did feel that the past two episodes helped bring some focus to this season (it may have helped that I watched them back to back) but I still agree that, especially compared to Tim Minear's season last year, this season is a mess. And I find it bizarre how Murphy insists on going on about how this season was meant to be a campy/fun contrast to last season's nihilism. Fine. Then why pick this season to do his heavy handed racism theme?
I also feel he plays his plot points wrong (again, I should expect this at this point in his writing.) Trying to make Hank somewhat sympathetic just made me realize he would die in this episode--why not bring up that point or make him more ambiguous an episode or two beforehand, for example? I know it's a short season, but the same with Patti Lupone--I would have prefered she somewhat came around for an episode or two before the "murdere dher husband" plot. I know religious fanatic/Carrie element is an easy go to for Murphy but I didn't really buy that she woud instantly try to kill her now awake son (I mean, didn't Murphy want to do another enema scene??)
I have never seen any of Cordelia's talents, other than potions, which she could obviously teach Misty. The visions, which could tell her her hubby liked it rough in hotel rooms, but not that he was a witch hunter, was the only thing witch-like.
And yeah, the eye replacement with a melon baller was just dumb. They seem to all be able to do whatever the storyline calls for.
That confused me too... Why did she realize she no longer could get visions when she, now with sight, hugged Myrtle? We saw her hug her before, and to the best of my recollection she never had visions from it (which led me to think she would realize Myrtle was evil--which she no doubt will end up being anyway--since Myrtle always wears gloves and so I thought she maybe had never had skin on skin contact.)
It really is like True Blood this year in that you just have to not even think about what powers or strengths each character is meant to have. I still don't understand why Eileen Rand's brother was a ghost who couldn't even materialize, but then once he is and is cast out of the house he can wander around, play sax in bars again and do basically what he wants--nevermind the fact that I think we're meant to find him sympathetic to a degree (though he was forgotten this week) despite the fact that he chopped up women who liked anything but his hot licks.
"And were they adding Cordelia to the mix of possible supremes when Misty called her a leader or am I reading too much into it?"
Yeah, maybe he'll shock me, but I thought what was being telegraphed was that Cordy is the Supreme and has some malevolent reason for doing all of this.
Remember that time when Patti LuPone walked in on her husband getting head from some woman under his desk?
She musta had done just seen THE ANARCHIST.
"And she wasn't even younger or prettier than you"
OUCH!
It would have made my life if Mandy Patinkin had been under the desk blowing her husband.

They should have just titled the episode "giving head".
"What the head said!" was the FUNNIEST damn line. I watched it four or five times.
I actually appreciate that the episode was just called "Head." Leave it somewhat to the imagination.
Also who gets their knob slobbed like that? Seems to be pushing her head at a weird angle.
While ASYLUM, is still my favorite season so far - it was perfection, I am still loving COVEN. It's gruesome, campy fun.
Please, Ryan Murphy, cast Faye Dunaway in Season 4 and/or Season 5.
I really want to like this show but I've never seen a more poorly written mess. NONE of the things happening on screen make sense.
*Queenie is alive even though she got shot in the stomach and shot herself in the mouth. So she's basically immortal without drinking some portion?
*LaLaurie's parts are reattached to her body without any scarring. Now Queenie is better at this than Misty who has been resurrecting people her whole life?
*The Axeman is now able to be seen by everyone and still wield an axe. Can ANYONE explain how this is possible? I'm not even going to get into the whole sex with Fiona thing.
*FrankenTate seems to have magically regained his ability to speak and have cognitive thoughts. And don't even get me started with that laughable ending.
*Myrtle used to be the highlight of each episode but she's beginning to wear on my nerves. Her purpose seems to be to fill in plot holes. And don't even get me started with that fvcking Theremin.
*The use of Spalding is another example of "how are we going to get a character to do XYZ? Bring back a dead one to magically explain it!" I never cared for Spalding and his creepy doll business. Can someone explain the rule of ghosts on this show? They are able to pick things up and feel the need to steal babies? And don't even get me started on that baby that came out of nowhere and is still around for some reason.
I'll watch til the end even though I think there's already been about 95 episodes this season but it's a HUGE train wreck.
*While Queenie's ability to shoot herself in the head and give someone else the injury is a bit much, it just is a drastic extension of powers she had since day one.
*No explanation for that except that only LaLaurie's head was taken off, and Misty doing this longer does not make her better.
*Why can't the Axeman hold an axe if the Butler can hold dolls and a baby? Even in the first season, Murphy utilized ghosts that could be seen and could interact with objects, and yes, even have sex with people.
*Fiona gave FrankenTate a better ability to speak when she decided to have him as his guard dog. (Wouldn't it be interesting if she makes Kyle kill Zoe?)
*I love the Theremin personally, and people are already suspecting if it is a clue about next season, that and McCarthy.
*See Axeman point, but if nothing ghost-related this season has been more outrageous than the first season
You're just going to get him started . . .
It was last night when I finally realized that, on some level, I might actually BE Francis Conroy. I've given some variation on that Diane von Furstenberg speech for over a decade now.
My point about Queenie is that I thought her power was more about injuries she self-inflicts yet she was shot in the stomach by the witch hunter and she's totally fine. Speaking of, I am glad the show stuck with that witch hunter plot for a whole two episodes and really integrated it into the full arc of the story.
I have no problem with a Theremin but it's like we get it already. In terms of next season they've announced that it's going to be set in the 1950's and Lange is perfecting her German accent. I hope the show does Nazis again because it was so great the first time.
I'm not justifying one dumb ghost over the other but it's a bit much that we are suddenly supposed to believe that ghosts on AHS have a new set of rules. If any old ghost can act like a corporeal being then why wouldn't everyone want to die? Shouldn't we be seeing Nan walking around and trying to kill Fiona and Laveau? Shouldn't FrankenTate's mom be trying to fvck him some more from the great beyond? I can give a show only so much poetic license before I just think the writers don't give any fvcks and just fly by the seat of their pants.
Also last night really showed how the writers are basically making all these women into drag queens (biggest case in point being Myrtle).
