American Idol - You Be The Judge

Posted: 5/8/07 at 8:46pmI hate to say this, but I feel that Blake has lost his edge. The beatboxing wasn't necessary for either song tonight, and it bothered me. I wish he would just SING. I'm thinking he may not be around next week. This just wasn't his night.

Posted: 5/8/07 at 8:53pmI kind of think that Blake, even when he's off, is more interesting than any of the girls. They're just so generic, and none seem to have stage presence.

Posted: 5/8/07 at 8:54pmI think the tallies for Blake and LaKisha will be close, but in the end, I'm betting on LaKisha going home tomorrow night.

I think Lakisha might be going home or Blake.
I hope Jordin stays. I love her.

Posted: 5/8/07 at 9:00pmMelinda is my favorite by far and away, followed by Blake... can't stand the other two, I bet that LaKisha goes home because the show needs a guy in the final three...

I want Blake to win. He's definitely the most original, and he's damn cute. I'd buy his album and go to his concert for sure.
Melinda is my second choice. I liked Jordin until I read that she is a staunch pro-lifer and does performances to support the cause. (Yes, that has nothing to do with her ability to sing, but I can't in good conscience support someone whose beliefs are opposite to mine on an issue I feel is important.)

On Jordin's first song, I was thinking, "Actually, it's YOU who doesn't know what it's like to love somebody, at least not the way the song's talking about." I didn't feel she connected to the lyrics at all, maybe because of her youth and lack of life experience.
If you want to hear a great female version of the song, listen to Bonnie Tyler's.

I actually fear for Melinda a little. There seems to be a pattern that happens occasionally in the Top Four where people trust that a certain front-runner will get votes, and then that person ends up getting voted off. Think Chris Daughtry and Tamyra Gray.
Tomorrow, I bet the bottom two will be Melinda and Lakisha. Jordin and Blake are the favorites, though I think Melinda is by far the best.

Maybe that's true if the voting is reported accurately, but I'm still not sure of that. I'm such a skeptic!
Last night, there was one little thing that bothered me about Melinda and that was the constant wiggling of her fingers, but that's not here nor there. She's probably the most versatile, but I wonder if she can win.
I couldn't pick a winner from Melinda, Jordin and Blake-it's too close for me.

I fear for my Blakey's safety tonight.
avab, I heard about Jordin as a pro-life activist, too. I'm a fan of her voice, but I'll admit that did bother me.

I thought Blake was actually the best last night - the most interesting at least. Melinda was second best - I thought her first number was better than her second.
Jordin has gotten booooring. I am so tired of hearing her sing ballads. And she butchered the second one last night.
I think LaKisha is going home tonight.
I must ask - with a million songs to choose from, that's the best they could do? The Bee Gees have written so many great songs. I thought the song choices were not the best.
And, bizarre I know, but I totally think Barry Gibb was sexy in his disco days.

Three Jesus freaks and a heartbroken gay boy who can't really sing.
Mmm, Idol. Pap for the masses! We need a little Tamyra Grey and some Paris Bennett up in this piece...

Noone did well because the song choices were stupid and ill advised. Most of the BeeGees songs are about their harmonies, that's the hook, and when you make them solos they are bland. I kept asking when one of the girls was going to sing "Woman in Love" from 1980...Streisand. I shouldve realized that noone could really make it their own.
Pretty disappointed in Jordin's support of the pro-life movement, but at 17 I cant judge her completely. She's still sunshine on that stage.
Lakisha's going home tonite. She needed to hit it last night to stay, and she didnt.

Yes.
Just like I always thought Lance Bass was, and I knew about 11 seconds after the first episode of the Real World New Orleans that Danny was, and don't EVEN get me started about what I used to tell my mommy about George Michael when I was 9...
I mean, if he were any MORE OBVIOUSLY in love with Chris Richardson, he'd have fellated him on national television!

Aww, I LOVED Danny (and Paul!) and crazy ass Melissa and everything about Real World New Orleans.
I like Blake's voice a lot, usually. But doing the falsetto was a horrible choice. He couldn't pull it off.
Disco could have been a fun theme (and there are a lot of great songs), but WHY did they have to make it the Bee Gees? They're great, but they peaked thirty f-cking years ago.

Amen, Miss SisterFriend.
I'm getting very, very close to being certain that Jordin is going to win. In a way, I'm glad...as much as Melinda's constant "gotta get my Jesus on!" bugs the living CRAP OUT OF ME, I DO think she is CRAZILY talented, and I would love to see her NOT be tied into the crazy soul-destroying contract that they give you, and have to record the crap they'd make her record.

That would have been an elimination show to remember.

Posted: 5/9/07 at 10:33amI saw Chris Richardson on another show yesterday, singing (?) and I swear there wasn't one note on pitch. More nasally and whiny than ever, too.

Chris and Jordin are too fake for me to be interested in them. they keep mooning at the camera and getting by on their looks.
don't even get me started on Jordin's fake laugh she always pulls out of her bum.

Disco could have been a fun theme (and there are a lot of great songs), but WHY did they have to make it the Bee Gees?
Yeah, I agree. These theme nights get more and more asinine. A theme night that's where three quarters of the singers are women and the 90% of the song choices were sung originally by men in falsetto? Not so great. And then the singers get slammed.
This is one of the things I don't get about AI. How can they be bitched at for f*cking up these songs on these theme nights when they're not the kind of songs they'll be forced to sing once they're signed to that blood contract with 19 Entertainment? They should be singing banal modern pop songs all the way through if they want a fair assessment of what they'll be getting in the future. All this Tony Bennett and BeeGees nonsense just makes no sense.
