Dang, I thought you wrote that whole thing until I got to the end!
I agree--women should be ashamed of their nipples.
CC: Michelle Obama
Except Beyonce got married before she had children, with a man she's been with for well over a decade.
I'd say that, in itself, is good enough in today's society to be a role model.

I'd say to my girls: some kind of old adage, but I'd say it backwards.
That was too long - I couldn't get through the whole thing. I started dozing off.

Someone on Huffpost called it regressive, bodyshaming nonsense, which it is.
I'd say to my girls I'd say: I hope you never irrationally hate a celebrity so much that you'll post any old thing you can find to support your view, especially if you never stop to consider the source or what you're really saying in doing so.

Oh good, so-and-so FINALLY weighed into this conversation. I was waiting to see what this mind of a generation had to say.

To my daughters I'd say: The one example of theatrenut's you should follow is to take a break from your half-naked men avatars to to post something that shames a woman for showing her body.
That's what I took away from the article, too, Phyllis. A strong, dominant woman who shamelessly displays herself as a sexual being being reduced to "she will turn our children into whores".
Sounds like the parents are pushing off their parental responsibilities onto celebrities.
Shame, shame.
I didn't read that entire tome, so I may be asking something that already has been - what has Beyonce done as a role model besides having her body in shape and thrusting it around on stage? Doesn't everything about her have to do with appearance? What has she accomplished that girls who don't look sexy can aspire to?
Inquiring minds want to know!

Write Michelle Obama and ask her!
"Write Michelle Obama and ask her!"
Oh, no, I'm asking you and others who agree with Michelle Obama right here.
Besides her 17 Grammy Awards?

I'm not saying I agree with Michelle Obama, nor would I suggest I know who the best role models for her children are. I just don't have a problem with Beyonce's sheer bodysuits.
To Kad = Yes, besides grammy awards.
Now, what can the kid who's not a singer or dancer and is out of the realm of beautiful to see in her besides the fact they can't do that?

I can't speak for Michele Obama, but I'm gonna guess that she doesn't think Beyonce is the ONLY role model for her daughters.
That she's a strong, savvy, independent woman who rose to become one of the most influential cultural figures of the time from a modest background, who has steered clear of so many of the personal pitfalls of other recording artists such as substance abuse etc. and has been in a stable, loving relationship?
She is a sucessful performer, who seems to have a good business head (or is smart enough to hire people who do). She has amassed numerous awards for her work and is raking in the bucks.
How different is she as a role model then let's say Barbi?
I have a problem with her nipple and other body suits. It sends the message that sex is what you have to put out there and contributes to making you great.
"To my daughters I'd say: The one example of theatrenut's you should follow is to take a break from your half-naked men avatars to to post something that shames a woman for showing her body."
But I do love that she talks to her daughters about me.
Beyonce is a strong, fearless woman who has built an empire through hard work and determination, not to mention her extraordinary talents.
I agree with Michelle, the woman who wrote that is a puritan idiot who doesn't deserve freedom of speech.

Considering you are disregarding her own achievements in order to focus on the body suits, perhaps you're right.
