Posted: 11/3/06 at 6:34pmI ask because Hudson is rarely seen in the trailer (apart from bits in "Dreamgirls" and "And I Am Telling You...) and because there appears to be a funeral scene in the snow that I can't fathom being for any other character (although we don't see Beyonce fleeing from it prematurely in her car, the way Diana Ross apparently did at Florence Ballard's funeral).
I ask in all honesty/What would life be?/Without a song and a dance, what are we?/So I say "Thank you for the music/For giving it to me."

"There were so many people in our way..." was Effie's line referring to Deena's mother's funeral. In the scene in the preview, the crowd was not that big. Also, Effie is in the front row of the mourners... notice that Deena is nowhere present.

Posted: 11/3/06 at 10:08pmI'm sorry to point this out, but you probably just gave away part of the movie to some people. Like me. I'm not that familiar with the show and I was definitely going to see the movie, but now part of it has been kind of ruined for me, if that's important.

For those unfamiliar with the play, it could very well be a scene from Effie's movie debut. But then again, if you were unfamiliar with the play, the title of this thread would have been a big spoiler, whether or not it happens.

They're gonna turn it into a chick flick. Effie will get cancer and all the Dreams link hands and sing "Dreamgirls" around her deathbed in the hospital as tears roll down Effie's pale cheeks.
I heard Beyonce is heartbreaking in her "GET THAT GIRL THE SHAHHHHHHHHHT!!!!" moment. There may be an Oscar here.
