You'd have to be dense not to get what this movie is about so I don't know how much they would cut??

The early reviews for this film have just been glowing. The trailer doesn't give me "goosebumps." Its narration is a little trite. But I can't wait. I love gay-themed sob stories.
too bad the only reason for seeing the movie has already been posted all over the internet...

I think i am gonna try and catch the premiere of this at the Toronto Film Fest (aka...across the street), even though I wasn't a huge fan of the short story it was based on (not a problem with the content, just the writing style), but half my friends spent the summer as extras in this movie, and we saw Heath and jake (and Kristen Dunst) around at the bars all summer.
And now this summer Brad and Angelina have taken over my hometown to flim The Assasination of Jesse James, and again all my friends are extras, and some may have speaking roles.

Okay,
I just saw the trailer, and now I HAVE to see the movie if only for the scenery. Those landscapes are what I can see out of my window every day of the summer, and they are where I go running every day for two hours. Gah...some beautiful cinematography.
Also it's great to see a movie utilizing all this young fresh talent that s popping up in Hollywood. It's good to show that for every Lindsay Lohan or Hilary Duff, there is a Rachel McAdams or Evan Rachel Wood. Yay for young fresh talent, that will become the DeNiros and Streeps of our generation.

"not a problem with the content, just the writing style"
I know what you mean.
I haven't read "Brokeback Mountain," but I read the book that Annie Proulx won the Pulitzer for, The Shipping News, and I hated it.
Worst book I've ever read.
Her writing style is pretentious for no other reason but to be pretentious. And her writing style is also just so boring...
But, anyway, I cannot WAIT to see this movie.
Hah sticktopreist,
"Prentetious" is exactly the word I would use (and almsot did, but decided against it). It's overly poetic. Then again this could say something about me more than here, because i am definitely a product of the A.D.D. generation who's favourite author right now is Chuck Palahniuk.
Also an interesting note...I kind of would almost use your exact words "writing style is pretentious for no other reason but to be pretentious" to describe much of Sondheim's work as well. Hah..that is bound to start a fight, so maybe all responses should be through PM rather than clutter up this thread.

Why is Jake Gyllenhall in every damn trailer? The guy is in serious danger of becoming overexposed, Jude Law-style.

That link wouldn't work for me. I had to find it on yahoo...
Jude Law style?
I thought Jake was only in two movies this season. Am I wrong? I don't really follow him. Just Heath *huggles Heath*

Offhand I can recall Gyllenhaal being in this movie, Proof, and Jarhead. It feels like he's intruding on half the movies I'm interested in. Then again, I'm insane, so you probably don't want to take my paranoia too seriously.
Oh, you're right, he is going to be in Proof. Weird, I never would have thought to cast him in that role...

The Jarhead trailer, by the way, is amazing. It just needed less Gyllenhaal and more Sarsgaard.
Did Heath Ledger knock up Michelle Williams (Dawson's Creek not Destiny's Child) during the filming of this movie? It just seems like he needed to impregnate a girl to avoid the gay rumors once this movie is released and Anne Hathaway turned him down. Naomi Watts to Michelle Williams is one hell of a downgrade and I'm kind of hoping it was out of desperation rather than choice.

Desperation rather than choice? That's just a poor choice of phrase, right?
Sorry, I changed my last sentence so it came out weird. I always thought that Heath Ledger had better options when it comes to the women he's seeing.
I love Michelle Williams.

Because you can never have enough of gorgeous Jake !
I can't wait for this film !

Beautiful trailer. I'm so happy to see that the scene with Heath and the shirt is in there - great moment in the book.

A friend has seen it in the "state" it's in right now (which could change) and said as much as he loathes Heath Ledger in real life (no further comment) his work here is astonishing and beautiful...the film itself - very intense - well done...and Jake is like an open wound and tremendously touching...
