Happy Sochi Olympics Day!
Competition has begun! (at last!)
Deet, that's so exciting. Our SoRJ never disappoints!
I'm so glad to hear the forecast for this weekend has been downgraded a bit. Enough! I want to see the sun!
Morning peeps! Deet, did you expect anything less?
Addy, I just realized this morning that the "Opening Ceremonies" aren't until tomorrow. This is the first time, I believe, that the games start before the ceremonies. So odd. Then again everything is odd about these Olympics.
That's true, Boobs.
They added some Medal events, so they expanded the number of days of competition.
Some of the events began today, and there will be Primetime coverage on NBC tonight.
Tomorrow is the big event of the Opening Ceremony! I can't wait!
I always look forward to the opening ceremonies. Some of them are spectacular. Hopefully Russia gets it right.
I watched "12 Years A Slave" last night. What a powerful movie. It always surprises me when I learn that not only was this based on a true story, but it was written in the 1800's. I can't fathom the way human beings were treated back then....key word "HUMAN BEINGS"!!! HC said if he was an actor in Hollywood he would be unemployed because he would never do a "slave" movie. He feels there are enough of them out there. I understand his sentiment, but I told him that some stores still need to be told. This is one of those that NEEDED to be told...although it wasn't good for my blood pressure. BTW every single performance is Oscar worthy. Bravo to Steve McQueen who is a British film director not the Actor.
Morning. Back at work but still feeling like crap. Hopefully the day flies by.
I really want to see that Boobs. I've heard it is incredibly well done. We have yet to watch any of the award movies other than Inside Llewyn Davis. Watching the Sherlock episodes are movies in themselves. But I will be getting taken to see the Lego movie next week :)
Tinky, I'm doing my best to get to see all the nominated movies before the actual awards.
So far we've seen:
American Hustle
Captain Phillips
Dallas Buyers Club
Gravity
12 Years A Slave
The Wolf of Wall Street
Still need to see Her, Nebraska & Philomena. Hopefully will get to see those before the weekend ends.
Well, since I wrote the role with him in mind, Boobs, I expected perfection. My expectations were surpassed.
The reading went well, overall. I heard a few things that I need to change and/or strengthen, and one entire scene just doesn't work and needs to be cut entirely, but it's in pretty good shape. I'm going to take a few days to think about it, listen to the feedback I got ( which I recorded ) and then revise again.
But today it's back to the real world. *sigh*
Glad to hear things went well, Deet!
Feel better, Tink!
Oh, brother. Cheyenne is planning another wedding. I didn't think the ink was dry on the divorce papers yet. I'm beginning to think Monte might be better off.

Not nice to upset Girly this way, Cheyenne!

Can you see me rolling my eyes?
So far I've only seen:
American Hustle
Dallas Buyers Club
Gravity
The Wolf of Wall Street
August Osage County (I know it's not nominated, but some of the peeps are!)

Last night was a toss up between Osage & Slave.

Have never been a movie person. Did see Les Miz on 12/26/12. Occasionally watch one on pay per view.
I bet Rondi Reed is pissed that Meryl took her role in Osage, I do not know her but she is friends with dozens of my FB friends.
I LOVE Rondi. I met her through my EX who worked with her years ago at Steppenwolf. He was an intern with them one year. I believe they worked on The Grapes of Wrath. I have a picture of her with my sons after a Wicked performance in Chicago when she played Madam Morrible. Of course she was amazing in that role as well. I now enjoy seeing her on Mike & Molly. And her and I are friends on FB too. As a matter of fact I met Tracy Letts through him too. Tracy actually dated a friend of his until her untimely death. So sad.

I saw her MANY times in Wicked! She was fantastic. I have not been to the Steppenwolf in years, I had a subscription years ago!
I only saw 1 show at Steppenwolf. Another friend was in it. All I remember was John Malkovich directed it and she was topless in Act II.
Oh, I almost forgot. Regarding the Olympics, I really like the lapel pin my company has this time. We got to vote for the design, and if you voted by a certain time, you got one of whatever was chosen. I have no idea what I voted for, but the pin arrived the other day.
I LOVE Mike and Molly!!

brd, Rondi is hysterical on it.
Rondi Reed was sensational in AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY on stage, but it wasn't in Meryl's role. Margo Martindale (The Millers) is playing Mattie Faye in the movie.
My one regret was missing OSAGE on stage. I'll watch the movie sometime this weekend.
