TRENTON New Jersey residents might soon be able to get wine shipped to their homes or visit an expanded stock of winery-owned retail outlets, under a bill passed Monday by the state Senate and Assembly.
The bill would allow small wineries, producing 250,000 gallons or less of wine annually, to directly ship wine to customers. It also lets each small winery, even if located out of state, operate up to 16 sales outlets in New Jersey. The votes, cast after 11 p.m. Monday, were the final ones on legislation in the two-year session and ended months of wrangling. The bill passed 51-18 with four abstentions in the Assembly and 24-9 in the Senate. The matter had become a regional battle of sorts, with Assembly Majority Leader Joseph Cryan, D-Union, supporting a more restrictive bill that didnt include direct shipping to protect local retailers in North Jersey from having customers drained off by an expansion in winery-affiliated outlets. Cryans bill was passed by the Assembly last March, 52-20, only to be amended by Sen. Stephen Sweeney, D-Gloucester, in the Senate and passed in June, 24-11. Hours later Cryan got the bill changed back in the Assembly, and it stalled. Change does not come easy, said Assemblyman John Burzichelli, D-Gloucester. You wouldnt think this would be as difficult as it was. ... But the step we took today I think will benefit consumers and the wine industry, and not at the expense of our traditional retailers or wholesalers. The proposal was scaled back from where it stood in June. The number of sales outlets was cut by five per winery, to 15 for in-state wineries and 16 for out-of-state businesses without a central winery in New Jersey. The amount of wine that can be shipped to a customer was halved to 12 cases from 24. The changes to the bill made Monday also said that if a small New Jersey winery wants to sell its product in retailers, they must use their own vehicles, not a common carrier. If signed by Gov. Chris Christie , the law would take effect in May.
My cousin just informed me that she's getting a puppy. This may be the first case I will know of where the kids will be taken care of the dog while she's out partying!

Good morning! Rainy commute in was not fun and I only go like 5 miles. Stay safe my fellow NJ peoples!
Moony - glad you are back and feeling better.
I woke up even earlier this morning despite going to bed really late and a few cocktails in. I'm impressed with myself. Let's see if I am this positive later when I am at training, lol. And then I have an internet first date tonight. We shall see.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)
Overall, I liked the show, but was not blown away. The dancing in Act I was excellent, some of the singing was ok, and the acting was not that great. Act II seemed to lose steam and wasn't as good. For the most part I was ok with the lines in Spanish, however in "A Boy Like That" it got so muddy with Maria singing in one language and Anita in another, I couldn't tell what language they were singing in. I spent so much time trying to figure that out it completely took me out of the scene. I was not happy they did not play the overture, and absolutely hated the way they staged the ending. Pointless. Even my friend who had never seen the show nor the movie was confused by it.
I'm glad I saw it, but I am still waiting to see that production that blows my socks off.

Good news - my replacement debit card finally arrived.
