Hey guys.
I have a question, why are there constantly Catholic jokes or remarks. I don't find it funny at all. Such things like "Why would a Catholic school do that production?" or "I highly doubt a Catholic school would allow that" are very harmful & immature.
Is there a reason people on this board say such things, or do they think it's funny.
I'm a Catholic boy & I'm proud of my religion. I'm not afraid to show it and I'm open to other people having different beliefs, but I don't understand why Christian religions are picked on in this board.
I know what you mean. I'm a catholic girl and my friends are against about being "innocent till marriage thing" Well that goes to show that my friends are sinners they think that some of those rules are to corny. I'm proud of my religion ,too. I mean Catholics rule!
SM2 that will put you on the next boat to hell! hehehe...made me laugh, though.
People need to lighten up a bit. I was raised Catholic and never mind a good joke at my expense...or even a bad joke.
Oy by the time you all turn 20 you'll start regarding yourself as being "raised catholic" when people ask you what religion you are. Catholic guilt is a bitch and the religion is a bit too fire and brimstone. And honestly the reason it gets picked on so much is it's refusal to accept Homosexuals as children of god.
Here's a good catholic school story. At about age 10 we were discussing Marrige in Religious Education, kinda like catholic sunday school on a wednesday that you went to after school. And being from the liberal household that I am I asked the Priest why being gay was a sin. He said that being gay wasn't a sin but having sexual intercourse before marrige was a sin. So then I asked him, "If having sex before marrige is a sin, then why won't the church let gay people get married? Aren't you guys kinda forcing them to be sinners?" That one got a call home and a good laugh at the teacher from my mother.
side note. If god can forgive a murderer while dying on a cross, I really don't think he's gonna give a damn who a screw as long as I've lived a good and decent life while being kind to my fellow man and giving back.
PS;Jesus was black!
yep, carl's exactly right. that's why there are no catholics left. the religion itself is extinct because everyone who had any sense left. in fact, religion itself is done as a concept, so get ahead of the curve and quit believing in god now. you'll feel better about yourself. at least until you spend eternity suffering in hell. but hey, what's eternity when you can spend your time on earth doing what you want?
You missed my point papa.
nope, i just chose which of your points to address you hellbound blasphemer.
I'm not saying that being Catholic is right or wrong & the views are right or wrong, I'm just asking for people to slow down with the jokes.
I'm straight and I don't make gay jokes.
I'm white and I don't make black jokes.
I'm a male and I don't make female jokes.
I'm Catholic and I don't make Jewish jokes.
I'm just curious why there has to be Catholic jokes.
And I'm asking in a passive tone of voice/typing. I'm not upset. I'm not angry. I'm not pissed. I'm simply curious.

I'm in the same boat as JustaGirl2.
So, Jesus walks by this man who is about to be stoned. He runs in front of him, casts out his arms, and yells "Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone!" Soon after, a stone comes hurling from the crowd, and knocks the man dead. Jesus puts his hands on his hips and says "Dammit mother..."
"I'm straight and I don't make gay jokes.
I'm white and I don't make black jokes.
I'm a male and I don't make female jokes.
I'm Catholic and I don't make Jewish jokes."
So, just because you don't these things, no one else should? That's makes no sense at all.
Besides we have to make fun of RTFan, she's just rude.
And JLY, careful with that avatar. I assumed it was your baby, but you aren't getting any, so I guess not.
I'm a Catholic too, and while I find the jokes about Priests molesting little boys to be unfunny, I realize that it is something I have to deal with. Everyone is allowed to have an opinion on a religion, and we must deal with it. The best thing you can do, is live your faith and not pay attention to the naysayers.
I'm a pretty liberal Catholic, I disagree with the church's view on homosexuality and stem cell research. I believe that it is not my job to condemn anyone, but to try my best to be a decent person, who gives everyone a chance. Wow, that got away from me. Point is: People are gonna make Catholic jokes, don't let it get to you.
i don't know what kind of Catholic churches you guys belong to, but this is all pretty foreign to me... even in a highly Republican area, all the Catholic churches around me are the most liberal of any other religion...

Very interesting thread here. I tend to view humor as a means of survival. All religions have undergone some form of persecution in one form or another over the history of the world. Laughter helps keep us human and strengthen our will to survive. Jokes are ok if they dont show disrespect . Being Jewish, I could spend days and days telling jokes about my religion. The day I stop laughing will be the day they put me in the ground.

Everyone's a little bit racist!
I think that if there are Jewish jokes, (some worse than otrhers) there can be catholic jokes. As a jew, I don't mind telling jokes about my religion, because it's all in good fun. Like they say: If you don't laugh, you cry.

Jersey Gal, I couldn't agree with you more. I feel that if you want to wait until marriage to have sex, my hat's off to you. Don't let(or allow) anyone to put any pressure on you. Stand your ground. I'm Catholic also.

So Jesus and Moses were in Heaven, taking a boat ride on a river conversing about old times.
Moses says to Jesus "I wonder if we can still do all our old tricks?" Jesus replies "we should give it a try." So, Moses stands up on the boat, concentrates, gathers his stregnth, spreads his arms, and parts the water. Jesus claps, "Very nice, very nice, but now wathc this one. This used to get the disciples all excited back in the day." So Jesus stands, inhales deeply, puts his foot out onto the water, goes to stand on the water...and sinks. When he gets back in the boat, Moses chuckles "Hey, what happened Jesus?" Jesus says, "Okay, let me give it another go", so he tries again, steps out onto the water, and again he sinks.
So Moses asks, "Well, what do you think the problem is Jesus?"
Jesus thinks and then responds, "Well, I'm not sure. But I do know that back in the day, I didn't have these holes in my feet!"
Oh, come on, you know it's funny!
It's important to remember that there is a difference between humor and malice. Just because you make fun of something doesn't mean you don't care about it. I find that laughter is a way to break down barriers on issues that people instantly get all uptight about. Mean spirited attacks or put downs are different story.
I was Catholic, up until a few weeks ago. I finally had enough of the Church's outrageous policies. When I heard that some Bishops were requiring their priests to play presentations during mass explaining why any "good Catholic" would HAVE to vote yes on the gay marriage ban in our state, that was the last straw. Also, there are so many rules and taboos regarding sex, IMO it just seems frivolous. I still have many of the core Catholic faith's beliefs, I believe in Jesus and loving others, all the big stuff. To me, the rest isn't necessary. I also refuse to be a member of an organization that wants to hinder a society's social progress, even if most of the population doesn't share their beliefs. However, one is entitled to believe and practice whatever faith they want and will receive no criticism for doing so, from me. The only place I draw the line is when said faith and/or religion harms others. And I really feel the Catholic Church is doing that now. That is also why it gets a lot of heat here.
Everyone's a little bit racist!
sweet, you certainly would know.......
