David Miscavige's niece, Jenna Miscavige Hill, put a book out about her experience in Scientology this past February (I want to check the Wright book and a few other inside Scientology books in addition to this one and the list is still growing). Essentially it was all from the perspective of a child and growing up in the organization.

Good for Leah for filing that missing person report! Here's hoping something comes of it.

Reading about Leah leaving the church got me curious. I just read the Jenna Miscavige book. Fascinating! I'm currently reading "Inside Scientology: The Story of America's Most Secret Religion" by Janet Reitman. I recommend both.

Planning to read the Lawrence Wright book next.

You guys, just be careful. You can go right down the rabbit hole when you start reading up on Scientology, I know I did. I can tell you all sorts of arcane things about the various levels and going up the bridge until you can control Matter Energy Space and Time, about New Era Dianetics, about Fair Game and Disconnection about enturbs and entheta about SPs and Anne Archer's devil spawn. You can end up filling your brain with as much useless information as Scientologists do.

Back in the late 70's while Christmas shopping at Macy's my then roommate and I were convinced to talk their "Personality Test". We were ushered into a large room with other unsuspecting folk and given a multiple choice questionnaire to fill to. The questions were so idiotic that my friend and I just laughed through the whole test. We were then graded and each of us were told we were in trouble and needed to get "Clear". I actually burst out laughing at my evaluator. Oh and no, I didn't want a copy of Dianetics.
Man the commercial for that book was on EVER local television channel during that time.

Yes there were a couple about your spending practices. How many homes you own, whether you twirl you hair while reading, suffer from uncontrollable ticks or eye twitches.

I have a friend who is in a property dispute with someone who is close to Miscavage. He is treating her like an SP and doing some pretty nasty stuff. There isn't much she can do about it without hard proof, but needless to say she is stressing out. She didn't know much about Scientology to begin with, but I pointed her down the rabbit hole. Probably not the best move, but I thought she should know what she is up against.

Oh, I just read the 'survivor' accounts although I do want the outlines of the history of the organization like the Wright book.

Weirdest Scientology-related stuff I have come across was L. Ron Hubbard's vanity music record, The Road to Freedom, and Edgar Winter's Scientology concept album Mission Earth with Hubbard heavily behind the scenes.

And a personal disclaimer: When The Master was being released last year, my father told me a story of his great uncle being a leader of some religious/life-style cult in Western NY. He, not unlike other cult leaders, was surrounded by mostly women followers. He was extremely anti-technology, believing TV caused cancer and having no telephones (probably why the cult did not grow). He had a deep, particular timbre to his voice that my dad compared to Orson Welles and so he kept on seeing his great uncle in the Phillip Seymour Hoffman role in The Master. Although my dad is fuzzy on what exactly the aims of that cult were, he was later told his great uncle was one to lead those intense, long, scrutinizing varieties of questions to future members of some of the dumbest things that you have ever heard.

Update:
The Daily News reports that a police source says detectives met with Miscavige in person and that the report is "completed and classified as unfounded." LAPD Officer Gregory Baek tells Tony Ortega the same thing — police now consider the case closed.

Ortega, former Village Voice editor and longtime reporter and critic of Scientology, says Remini made the filing on Wednesday for Miscavige, who has not been seen in public in six years.

Remini's recent break from the church is said to have stemmed from her inquiry into Shelly Miscavige's whereabouts at Tom Cruise's 2006 wedding. Leah and Shelly were friends.

In her statement at the time of her exit earlier this month Remini said, "I believe that people should be able to question things," she said. "I believe that people should value family, and value friendships, and hold those things sacrosanct. That for me, that's what I'm about. It wouldn't matter what it was, simply because no one is going to tell me how I need to think, no one is going to tell me who I can, and cannot, talk to."

Ortega says Shelly Miscavige might be living at a private Scientology compound outside Los Angeles and has been cut off from the outside world.

The Church has previously stated that Shelly Miscavige is not missing, but simply doing church work.

Leah's big scientology interview, in which she supposedly dishes on Tommy Girl, airs on ABC's 20/20 tonight. Apparently, 20/20 is still a thing.

I am not Scientologist but I know a couple and they are both the kindest funnest people I know. They never talk about it unless I ask and what it brings to them they say is an appreciation for living life in the full and seeing the best in people.  They are both poor, single  and from abroad so the money and marriage thing has not been an issue.
