Wow! I don't know what happened, but when I originally posted this, it appeared on the Main message board. Weird!
Anyway, I freakin' LOVE this movie. I rented it today and watched it for the first time in months, and I still got the same feeling I had when I originally watched it. First off, the script is superb and Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet are spot on with their acting. It's a shame more movies like this don't get made.

It's a wonderful movie and it breaks my heart every time I watch it.
I think it's the best out of the Charlie Kaufman movies.
I love this movie. One of my favorites for sure.
One of the BEST movies to be made in the last 5 years. LOVE this film.
I love this one, but then I would be hard-pressed to say any of his scripts have ever been bad....I was outraged when Adaption (which was mind-numbing good writing, it could have been a self-indulgent nightmare, instead it was a tortured piece of literature.) lost so when he finally won for this I was tickled. I think the only movie that did not come off as well as it ought to was Confessions of a Dangerous Mind...which is a pity because it was a brilliant script-- George Clooney did a go-awful turn as a first time director and really killed it in my opinion.
I'm a geek-- the only two awards I live and die for are the Adapted and Original screenplay...
-- it has to be on the page first.
I agree with all of the above. It's one of my favorite movies.
I really like this movie as well, although I think Kaufman's screenplay for Adaptation is his best.
I love this movie. Sadly I have only been able to bring myself to watch it twice because it reminds me far FAR too much of a relationship/breakup I went through.
I only saw this movie once but I thoroughly enjoyed it. About 9 years ago when I was going through a really rough breakup I always used to say that I wished I cold just erase all my memories of my ex so that I wouldn't have to feel the pain...I remember telling that to my therapist and gtting no response at all out of him! Luckily, that wasn't possible! I never stopped being in love with my ex and he passed away 3 years ago...I am so extremely thankful for every memory that I have of him. Anyway, I thought the movie was excellent and now I want to watch it again!
I love this movie too. I had to watch it a couple times before I completely understood what took place when, but it was nonetheless excellent.

My favourite film of all time. Perfect in every aspect. Acting, visually, screenplay. I watch it over and over again and find something new everytime.
If you have only watched it once, watch it again! It only gets better and better.
^^Agreed on how it gets better with every viewing
I simply adore this movie.
I have yet to see Adaptation. It's sitting on my shelf, as I bought it a couple of months ago, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
I liked "Adaption," but I was confused by a lot of it and some things still don't make sense to me and it got slow in parts. But, I would reccomend seeing it at least once just for the acting, if anything else.
Another wonderful Jim Carrey performance overlooked at the oscars.
COMPLETELY agree. He was spectacular in that movie
I would have nominated Jim Carey over Jamie Foxx and Clint Eastwood in a heartbeat.
In fact, I probably would have nominated him over Leo and Johnny, too.
Heck, I'll go so far as to say he maybe should have won that year. But then Don Cheadle was damn good in Hotel Rwanda.
This and Truman Show are his two best non commedic works in my opinion. Although I have a soft spot for The Majestic.
Also one of my favourite films!
This is truly a masterpiece!
Adaptation is brilliant. I sort of hated it the first time I saw it, and then had the, "OH!" moment about the ending.

I agree. I love 'Eternal Sunshine': it is definitely in my favorites.
I wouldn't say by any means that Kate Winslet is an overlooked/underrated actress, but I definitely think it is about time that woman wins an Oscar. She has been nominated, what, six times (or five)? And is the youngest woman to have received that many nods? Wild. I hope she wins one soon.
Did anyone see the episode of Extras that Kate Winslet appeared in? She was playing a nun in Nazi Germany...it was so funny...
said Sam's Oscar was mocking her...figured a nun and anything to do with fighting Nazi's were sure-things for Oscars..it's from Season 1. Cracked me up.

Love, love love this movie. And forget Jim Carrey, this is yet another instance of Kate Winslet being nominated and losing at the Oscars. (Five times and counting!)
I can't wait until Gondry's next movie comes out- it's called Be Kind Rewind and it sounds like crack of the sweetest variety.
wasn't it nominated for an oscar THIS year? oh, wait ... that was ETERNAL LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND ... my bad ...
