NOpe. Not for Match Point.
Wouldn't Transamerica count as a comedy? I haven't seen it yet but the trailer seems to indicate that.
The BEST PICTURE race this year at the Oscars will be interesting. Im hearing KING KONG is phenomenal. I thought BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN was a masterpiece. Same for WALK THE LINE. MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA was a bit flawed but still one of the years best. SYRIANA was breathtaking and intriguing. MUNICH is supposedly gripping and one of Spielbergs best works to date. Im only hearing very positive things about THE PRODUCERS. Same goes for MATCHPOINT. And CRASH was superb.
Hmm...
But but but, she's surely a leading role in Match Point, isn't she?
Frank Langella isn't even in GOOD NIGHT enough to merit a nomination, unless they decide to pull an Alan Alda in the AVIATOR. He's just NOT impressive enough.

I think the theory is that she is not who the story is told through the eyes of (this film is told through the eyes of Jonathan Rhys-Meyers), so she becomes a supporting part. But, they may sumit her for supporting or lead...so, who knows. you could be correct.
Yes but only by default. The Golden Globes move in mysterious ways. And is ANYONE in Goodnight, And Good Luck enough to merit a nomination? Patricia Clarkson must wonder why she bothered showing up.
Alright I'm going to pull a broadway86 here. (Sorry broadway, you know deep down, I want to have your children.) Keep in mind that I have not seen GEISHA, SYRIANA, BBM, or KONG yet. If I were responsible for the GG noms, this is who and what I would choose:
BEST PICTURE DRAMA:
Brokeback Mountain
Capote
Cinderella Man
The Constant Gardener
King Kong
BEST PICTURE M/C:
Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang
Pride and Prejudice
The Producers
Shopgirl
Walk the Line
BEST ACTOR DRAMA:
David Strathairn, GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK
Phillip Seymour Hoffman, CAPOTE
Heath Ledger, BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN
Russell Crowe, CINDERELLA MAN
Ralph Fiennes, THE CONSTANT GARDENER
BEST ACTOR MUSICAL/COMEDY:
Joaquin Phoenix, WALK THE LINE
Robert Downey Jr., KISS KISS BANG BANG
Nathan Lane, THE PRODUCERS
Bill Murray, BROKEN FLOWERS
Lou Taylor Pucci, THUMBSUCKER
BEST ACTRESS DRAMA:
Felicity Huffman, TRANSAMERICA
Gwyneth Paltrow, PROOF
Julianne Moore, THE PRIZE WINNER OF DEFIANCE OHIO
Charlize Theron, NORTH COUNTRY
Naomi Watts, KING KONG
It's interesting that you keep championing Julianne for Defiance, Ohio. Is she on any award radar for that role?
Julianne? Oh, you mean Jules. Sorry, I keep forgetting that that's her real name.
Ooooh, saucer of milk, table one .
But yes, seriously, is she likely to get a nomination for Defiance? I only ask as I personally think it was among her weakest performances (but a below par Julianne Moore performance is still leagues ahead of someone like Keira Knightley at the top of her game). It would be akin to Susan Sarandon being passed over time and time again before being awarded for Dead Man Walking, a film and a performance of hers I can't abide.
Actually, Munk, I haven't done my predictions yet. I will get to work on that right away. Thanks for reminding me. However, I am at a loss if you think that anyone from King Kong will get nominated.
PS - Her name is 'Julianne', silly. Get it right.

Is there ANY buzz for Mitchell in Melinda & Melinda?
Um.....
Terrence Dashon Howard?
There was several months ago, but it seems to have died down. I hope they don't forget about her.
I believe that's how he was billed for the film, no? Why, do you want me to change that? Updated On: 12/9/05 at 05:53 PM
I just checked. He was only billed as Terrence Howard for H&F but he is sometimes credited with the Dashon. Bless him.
Strike that. He was billed as Dashon for Lackawanna Blues and Ray. My mistake.
Your mistake. Must be two different people.
Nicolas Cage, The Weather Man
Steve Carell, The 40 Year-Old Virgin
Peter Falk, The Thing About My Folks
Jennifer Connelly, Dark Water
SERIOUSLY?
Why not talk about the Glitter Globes.

No, I'm pretty sure it's the same guy, Munk. Check for yourself.
SERIOUSLY?
Didn't see that one coming. Wait a minute... just one sec... Yes, I am serious. Is there a problem?

Their performances were good. They were rightfully funny and frightening. But the second to highest top honor for film actors? Is Steve Carell REALLY deserving of the second highest honor? You're got to be kidding.
I love Connelly to death - but she really is the same in everything. REQUIEM, BEAUTIFUL MIND, DARK WATER - no one plays scared and tormented like her, but - like your Jules needs to take off the aprom, Miss. Jenny needs to break away from what is quickly becoming her typecast.
