And judging by the look on her face, even SHE knew that.
I actually think the Oscars (and Golden Globes) shouldn't hand out an award for Best Song. It has so little to do with filmmaking. Often the song has no thematic relation to the movie whatsoever.
Especially when played over the credits, as they often are.
What do you all think the noms for supporting actor comedy/musical will be? I just think it would be brilliant if Wilson could have a Tony and a Golden Globe for the same role.
That's one acceptance speech I want to hear.

Best Supporting Actor will probably look like:
Frank Langella (Good Night, and Good Luck)
Jake Gyllenhaal (Brokeback Mountain)
Paul Giamatti (Cinderella Man)
George Clooney (Syriana)
Matt Dillon (Crash)
Best Supporting Actress nods are pretty tricky to predict this year...but, I'd go with (if I had my way):
Lynn Cohen (Munich)
Rachel Weisz (The Constant Gardener)
Frances McDormand (North Country)
Catherine Keener (Capote)
Thandie Newton (Crash)
The supporting categories this year have no clear cut winners, so...I'll be surprised to see who gets nods this year.
touchme--those look right to me. It could go so many ways in those categories.
I would love Rachel Weisz to get some recognition. I loved her in Constant Gardener.
touchme, I pretty much agree with those nominees, but I wouldn't be surprised if Michelle Yeoh got a nod for Geisha.

Has anyone heard anything about Terence Malick's "The New World"? He's one of my favorite directors and as far as I know will be opening this month..at least for Academy Award consideration.
Peter--there is always the possibility that The New World will throw everything out the window, but so far, there hasn't been much word about it.
Other possibilities for Best Supporting Actress:
Michelle Williams, Brokeback Mountain
Uma Thurman, The Producers
Gong Li, Memoirs of a Geisha
Ayelet July Zurer, Munich
Maria Bello, A History of Violence
Scarlett Johannson, Match Point
Amy Adams, Junebug
Hope Davis, Proof
Sandra Bullock, Crash
Shirley MacLaine, In Her Shoes or Rumor Has It
Toni Collette, In Her Shoes
And for Best Supporting Actor:
Bob Hoskins, Mrs. Henderson Presents
William Hurt, A History of Violence
Geoffrey Rush, Munich
Clifton Collins, Jr., Capote
Gary Beach, The Producers
Donald Sutherland, Pride and Prejudice
Don Cheadle, Crash
Terrence Dashon Howard, Crash
Christopher Plummer, Syriana or The New World
I think you boys are missing Diane Keaton from your Best Supp Actress lists...and I think Match Point as well...I also think Geisha might not do as well as previously believed, but it's an international movie, and that can only help it.
U are right, lil dogs!! LOL She's currently the FRONT RUNNER for the award!!!
Goof!
And Match Point seems to still be entirely buzz free. I said earlier that a couple of my friends saw it at award screenings and left unimpressed. Which makes me sad.

I actually think she'll get snubbed. She has gotten quite a bit of exposure, and this role resembles everything she has done in the last five years, so I doubt she'll get it. However, if she's gets a nod, I won't be surprised. I'd also love to see Amy Adams and Michelle Yeoh score nods. I prefer the newbies this year in the supporting categories. Both the Oscars and the Globes tend to like 'em, too in the supporting categories (although wins usually go to those who are winning as much for previous work as the nominated project).
The other day Roger Ebert was talking about MATH POINT and said Scar Jo might win this year.
Woody is VERY popular with the Academy...he was still receiving lots of noms well after the Soon Yi scandal broke. I could be wrong, but don't be surprised when he does well at the Oscars--or I could be totally wrong!
I hope that Hope Davis isn't forgotten...
Lemme tell ya, I am pulling for Scarlett to win every award going, especially after what she said about Michael Bay.
I'm crossing my fingers for Amy Adams and Joan Allen. They need it.
She said that he has a lot of enemies. As far as I know, she didn't elaborate.
That he isn't a very nice guy and that he's made a lot of enemies. And given that he blamed EVERYONE but himself for that heap of **** The Island tanking, I think she has every right to.
