My Cat had kittens...They're now a week old. This is unrelated to the thread, unless they turn out to be dirty rotten kittens.
I don't remember what my avatar is at the moment...something outdated I'm sure, don't judge me.
Or something hot.
awww, kittens are cute.
avatar is hott (yours too Kerrie, but he's all yours)
and what do you mean you got a postcard from Mutual of Omaha?
oh, you mean the damn company the joke is made from? That sucks. I thought it was was a code word for Joanna or Greg or something like that. I'm have an idiot and half asleep.
Or something hot.
I forgot I have immpecable taste.
What's Greg up to now? I hope he returns to New York soon.
Finished up Epic Movie, still working on the house, probably working on random little things (tv shows, movies), hanging out with kids, that sort of thing.

Did you see the ticket prices Dre? They may release cheaper ones later, last time I got $50 tickets a couple nights before...but as of now, the cheapest tickets are $350.
First day on the internship. It's awesome!

So I drove to Jacksonville today to see Rent, and it was amazing. Harley Jay is not only the hottest guy in the world, but he is also an amazing Mark. So I thought yall should look at my avatar.

He's the reason I drove two hours yesterday!!! I love that man. He is amazingly talented and really sweet. So i was on the front row of the pit right in front of where he stands for Seasons of Love and all i could do was stare at him during that. And then when they bowed he was right in front of us again so I shouted his name and he looked down and smiled.
Later we got recognized by the Bassist and the male SOL soloist as those girls in the front row. It was rather awkward actually. I have more pictures of the cast on my myspace.

So basically our experiences with Harley are the same. I didn't meet him in November either, but I do message him on myspace every once in a while. I actually told him I was going to be there yesterday and he told me he'd do his best not to suck. No, I didn't do the rush tickets, I bought from the theater's website the day after they went on sale. I did hear I guy in the second row of the pit talking about the rush tix he bought that day though, so they are great seats. And I really think you should try to meet him and the rest of the cast, they are all such nice people!!
Cat, I want your kittens.
Please mail them to me.
Thanks.

So. This is really random but I think yall will have some answers for me. I'm can't sing, I can't act, but I would like to try to do something with a show one day. When take away the actor, make-up/hair, and directorish jobs, what is there? Stage crew? What else? Any random words of advice?
wow! Now the board is really moving.
Annie, i love my avatar too. Danny Kaye was such a wonderful actor. And I miss Greg too. I really need to see Epic film soon.
uh, as far as jobs go in the theatre, you can do anything. Like marketing or producing, but if you want to be up close with the actual production, props has always been one of my favorites. i did a props internship last year, and I had to organize our props area, make props, fix props, sew, buy (my favorite part), and organize them backstage. That was great fun. Right now, i'm doing stage managment at college, but that is sort of "directorish" job which you said you didn't want to do. You could always design sets or lights or costumes. Try out a fun different jobs in high school or community theatre and see what you like. or look up people online and read their experiences in certain jobs and see if that is what you would like to do. good luck!
Julia, are you talking just in your high school musical for now or professionally?
People have covered most of these wonderfully, but obviously there's a lot more to do professionally. Still, there's fun things to do in high school. OF COURSE my first suggestion is going to be to play in the pit if you play an instrument.
If you are willing to work hard, you could stage manage. It's a lot of work and you're responsible for the running of the show, and though it's stressful, I had a lot of fun doing that.
You could also be production assistant, which is slightly less work and you can go more into the professional behind-the-scenes stuff. You assist the producers in advertising and making tickets, you assist the stage manager and/or director at rehearsals, and you get to be everyone's bitch. Fun stuff.
Props mistress, as Dre mentioned, is also a fun possiblity.
Crew in general of course. In high school, they're always looking for help there. There's lighting, sound, constructing sets, painting/artistically creating sets, etc.
I think that's most of your high school options.
Of course professionally, there are so many things to do--production, literary management (deciding what shows to put on), development (raising money), publicity, marketing/advertising, general/company management, talent agent, casting director, etc. Try to do some research, there should be good information online. I'm a member of the theater intern group here, and we get monthly seminars from professionals in the different jobs I mentioned above. Find out if there's something like that around where you live.
Good luck!
I suggest professional audience member...

Well I was just thinking about how much fun everyone working with the Rent tour looked like they were having (not just the actors and band memebers) and I got to thinking that that would be pretty awesome, thanks for all the insight!
Good morning all. I just posted this note over on the 'adults' thread. These tickets are FREE to the first people who ask for them. Send me a PM or an mail if you'd like them. I really hate to see them go to waste!
"Good morning everybody.
Well, I'm convinced now that I am well and truly JINXED.
The last two times I planned trips to NY I told everyone about it and then had things come up which caused me to cancel the trips. This time I decided to go ahead and plan the trip but NOT TELL ANYONE! I figured if I hid the info from the big jinx monster* then everything would work out and I'd actually get there. Alas, it was not to be.... I have been home sick for the last week and a half with double pneumonia. I'm in so much pain right now that I can't even lean over to feed the cat. (She's eating off the coffee table right now!)
Anyway - I just got finished cancelling my hotel and train reservations. I still have my theatre tickets - all of which are non-refundable. I have a ticket for the Follies concert (matinee on Saturday) which I will gladly mail to anyone who wants it IF they let me know before the mailman comes this afternoon. I think I can get it to you before Saturday if I mail it today.
I also have a ticket for Drowsy Chaperone on Saturday night and The Vertical Hour on Sunday afternoon. These are both etickets and I'll be happy to pass them on to anyone who asks.
Now I'm going to go back to the sofa and my heating pad and start crying again.
*jinx monster - I've spent most of my 'down' time watching my Buffy the Vampire Slayer DVD's. It shows.
(I'm never going back to NY again) "
awww, Mamie, I'm so sorry! I wish I could help (either to take the tickets off your hands or be there with you and make you soup) And I bet you will get back to NYC. You just have to pray hard and keep positive and always look on the bright side of life! (do..dodo..dododo)
Feel better Mamie.

David Kirshenbaum mentions "Nothing is Too Wonderful to Be True" from DRS. and a few mention the "Next Ten Minutes" from L5Y. and Joanna Gleason and her husband have a cute picture there.
Annie!
