I think these 'overrated' threads are overrated. Obviously, if something registers negatively to you, and you feel it has been overrated, then it has registered positively with a majority of other people. So to focus on what you respond to negatively is only to dwell in what you think is wrong in the other people's viewpoint.
Basically, I think you need to just say, "Oh, it's ashame I didn't get to experience what so many other people did - too bad for me." Spreading your own dissatisfaction only serves to perpetuate the negative feelings you had, and put a damper on what others are obviously enjoying.
Take a pill, get over it, and go spend your energy enjoying something that actually did reach you, rather than trying to rain on the parade of those around you.
I third DG. And that post should be forceread by everyone on here and on the planet.
We celebrate way too much negativity here.
Wicked, Rent, and MATTHEW BRODERICK!
DG, here's the problem I have with your post. First of all, This thread doesn't necessarily have to elicit posts about anything that registered negativity. Those who are posting what they think is overrated, may have very well enjoyed that person/show, but doesn't agree with the hoopla surrounding it. I myself did not hate Wicked, Rent, or Matthew Broderick, but I don't think they deserve the hype. That too negative for you?
Second, this is a message board and I believe that anyone can start a thread about a topic that interests them and clearly lots of people responded.
Your second paragraph in which you are telling us how we should word our posts is a little unreasonable, just a tad.
Lastly, no one has to take a pill. We're just having fun on a message board. If this thread is raining on your parade, well, think about how strongly you're reacting.

Jane - points taken, and I actually agree with you. So I guess all I can say is that my post reflects my input on this subject, which as you correctly make clear, is the individual poster's right to do.
As to the language, I really wasn't trying to seem overly condemning - I actually thought I used common slang type expressions that conveyed some level of silliness.
And I'll just say again, of course everyone has a right to say what they like - I just also have the right to react to it.
I LOVE to listen to Heather Headley sing. I just hate to watch her act or even when she as a dialouge in a song. She kinda over does it. But, besides that she's awesome.

Yep, and I thank you for your mature and sensible response to my post. You don't know how much I appreiciate a person who can discuss something on this level.

But Tiff, it's time to get excited about your life!
How's that workin' for ya, Allie?
concerning dr. phil, to be over-rated one must be highly regarded in the first place, by someone. i'm afraid the only person who thinks dr. phil is the bomb is dr. phil.
oprah has taken on some spiritual grand dame title, like political candidates have to parade for her approval, etc. i wish david letterman was still giving her a hard time.. we need an oposing viewpoint out there. god bless kathy griffin.
