...and I thought it was wonderful. It started off a bit slow and sagged a little at parts but all in all, it was a great dramady. It's very, very funny at parts and it seems to be very intimate as well even though it is, at heart, an overblown picture of a dysfunctional family. I don't want to give anything away, but the final scene is so touching and moving, I was left in tears. It's such a heartwarming family holiday movie. It really makes you appreciate the holidays and being with your family (on the holidays or not). Owen Wilson, Diane Keaton, Craig T. Nelson, Sarah Jessica Parker, Claire Danes, Rachel McAdams...the entire cast is uniformly flawless. Diane Keaton is one of the best actresses alive today and she is so splendid in this movie. Anyway, this is a great movie definitely a must-see for the holidays. I really really enjoyed it flaws and all.

I'm really looking forward to seeing this. Just from the preview, the family reminds me so much of mine. In a...oddly good way, I guess.
Oh, and you mixed up Luke and Owen Wilson.
Agreed. The cast was uniformly superb.
I am constantly pleased with the performances of Rachel McAdams. I think she is going to be an Oscar Award-Winner one day. Her versatility is impressive.
I too was left in tears at the end. And Keaton delivered a heart wrenching performance. SJP didn't fail to impress either.
I saw this film last night and I was very impressed. I wasn't sure how "screwball" it would be going into it. Surprisingly, it was very heartfelt and funny. One of the scenes I LOVED was when the dinner conversation went to the "gay" topic and Meredith stormed off in a huff. The way Keaton's character consoled her deaf son after that incident at the table was so simple, sweet and emotional.
3.5 out of 4 is a B+? The only thing higher than a 3.5 is a 4. What would you consider an A -?

Can't wait to see The Family Stone, but what's with McAdams' hair these days? It seems to have been bleached, which is so ugly to me.
Ok, then *** out of ****. Does it really matter?
Anyway, McAdams is the breakout star of the year. She was amazing in all of the movies she starred in. She brought a grounded, intriguing versitality to WEDDING CRASHERS, delievered a great and totally intense performance in RED EYE, and she's annoyingly perfect and funny in THE FAMILY STONE. And her performance in THE NOTEBOOK was phenomenal. She's going to be one of the brightest stars in films in the coming years.

Couldn't agree more. Personally, I was appalled. she seems to have lost weight too.
It was much better than I expected it to be. All of the characters, with one exception, were very well-developed. Parker, Keaton, McAdams, and Nelson were the standouts. The only actor who didn't get much to do was Claire Danes. Other than that, it was a very funny and well-written movie.

Lost weight? I never noticed but she's looking pretty good from where i'm standing!
I saw Family Stone too and really loved it. Rachel McAdams makes me gasp for joy whenever I see her. I dont think I really need to be worried but I'm considering sending her a letter telling her not to turn into a 'Lindsey' or a 'Mary- Kate'. Like I said I don't think I need to worry. I adore her.

Oh she's totally gorgeous, I concur. Not saying she's ever been chubby or anything. But..idunno, when I saw her on Conan she seemed a bit..bonier. Like her face was kinda taut. And yeah I'm basically worried that she might turn into a Lindsay. But actually, I probably don't have anything to worry about ~ she's more much intelligent than that lot.
Going to the 10:10 showing tonight. I'm very curious.
Rachel McAdams...

Claire Danes was STUNNING to look at in this movie. Her hair and face are gorgeous! So beautiful.

Oh, and BTW, the poster for this movie is kick ass! :)
...and I've come to the conclusion that Dermont Mulroney is a robot. He's the only falty actor in the entire movie. He irked me the entire time. He talks with one side of his lip higher than the other trying to be sexy and its just...odd. Not something his character would do it seemed.
How chunky is Luke Wilson in this? I hear he either gained eighteen pounds for his role or just in time for the talk show appearances.
I still can't believe this was sold out Friday. Must have attracted all the HOLIDAY SHOPPER FAMILIES, not knowing the movie involved homosexuality in any way!
the pressures to be exceptionally thin, especially for actors, has nothing to do with intelligence. Her face does look more chiseled, and that makes her look more "adult". Whether or not that is deliberate, who knows. Nearly all actresses go through this, and sometimes it has to do with the role and what directors envision a character to look like. Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie, to name a few big names have been "very thin" as well as more filled out over time.
Regardless, I think Rachel is amazing, I can't wait to see The Family Stone. Unfortunately I don't know WHEN I will, as there are 92472394832474 movies I want to see and $-9374947323 to spend.
