I'm watching her now on I think it's Jay Leno. She belts in almost every song she does. It sounds like she's straining. Does anyone else think she's going to have no voice soon? I read articles after American Idol that said she's been told to stop screaming because she will damage her vocal chords. Do you think she has a controlled belt or is she yelling?
I was so in love with her that season and had picked her to win WAY before anyone knew who she was. I love the sexy, raspy voice on a girl (Scarlett Johansen...ppprrroooww). Any girl that looks that good and sings that well is wife material in my books

I think she has a great voice, for now. Who knows how long it will last? At times, I think it can be a little off, but I think she'll be in fine shape for a while to come.

She needs to limit herself to two concerts a week, or three short appearances (TV shows, etc.). Right after she won American Idol, they had her singing every single day, and she was in real danger of seriously damaging her voice.
It is a thrilling voice, though, when it's healthy.
LOVE her voice. She was quite a find - they will never replicate that phenomena. Ruben? Clay? Okay, and just took me 15 seconds to remember the last one's name...Fantasia. None of them nor any other contestant has ever come close to the voice and complete package that is Kelly Clarkson.
Brava Rath !!! So True.
Thank you, boobs.

Kelly really is an original -- he has the raw power and talent -- she appears to have the prsonal convictions to stay true to herself -- I remeber reading or hearing an interview that she refuses to "diet" just for the sake of image, etc....pipes and self-understanding -- a powerful combination...
I voted for her every episode, miltiple times....
She got nodes on her vocal chords about a month after American Idol ended.
I remember one time on American Idol she had to perform even though she was sick that week - and she pulled it off! The girl is probably one of my favorite winners off of American Idol. I knew she was going to win, I mean, come on, how could Justin Guarini beat her?

Never underestimate the 13 year old population--- just look at season 3 --
KMF is right - I was holding my breath that night. I was so afraid Justin was gonna win. The hair on the back of my neck stands up with the memory.

I think season 3 ended right, but it was certainly in grave danger of being a complete disaster. I mean that Hawaiian girl was cute and all, but come on ... AI she was not! In any case I have mixed feelings about Kelly. I think she is good, but sometimes goes overboard. Like too many riffs and things. Sometimes I just want to be like, calm down sweetie - we all know you can sing!
just wait until she releases an album of torch songs...she'll be sweet!

i love her voice...her belting is what makes her voice so amazing alot of singers couldnt pull that off.
I think that she has one of the best voices in pop music these days, if not the best.

Her voice is truly amazing--I'd ask if anyone thinks she could play Elphaba with her beltification, but I won't go there..
I think Christina Aguilera's is stronger but Kelly is right behind. Sometimes she does scream instead of sing and one day it is going to turn out bad for her. But, great voice.
Funny Xtina should enter this discussion because she is the one IMO that over sings. I really like both but wish that Xtina would take it down a notch at times. Her song "Beautiful" calls for subtlety. She butchered it on one of the popular awards shows last year with her pyrotechnic take on it. For some reason young singers with big voices have tended to really amp it up since Whitney hit the scene. Others pop singers belted before, but not incessantly.
yeah. She does tend to trill WAY TOO MUCH. But besides the oversinging and whatnot, she has a gorgeous voice. Her STRIPPED cd is the best pop cd in a long time.

Yeah--riffing is awsome--but too much of it can get on people's nerves. In some songs it needs to be toned down--but she is an expert at it. She has so much control over it. It does take practice though.
i would love to hear Christina Aguilera sing with out all the ad-libing for once..i am sure she would sound great..ad-libing is good but to much can kill a person!! then i would maybe say she was better then clarkson.
I can't stand how Christina waves and shakes her arm when she sings...like Mariah Carey. It gets annoying after the five-thousandth time...
