Eris, because I have a terrible awful mind I was thinking about the amputees and their insurance as soon as people said the bombs were taking people's legs off. I imagine the One Boston fund will help with that, but I'm hoping maybe in the future there'll be a specialized fund for prosthetics and refitting people's houses/apartments for their physical needs.
Plum, I had a similar thought. I had posted this link in one of the other Boston threads but don't remember which one.

Boston Bombing Suspects Motivated By Afghanistan, Iraq Wars: Report
And who is this mysterious "Mischa"?
AP: BOMB SUSPECT INFLUENCED BY MYSTERIOUS RADICAL
Plum, those were among my first thoughts, too.
I recall hearing about two brothers - who make their living as roofers - who lost a leg each. My first thought was how are they going to make a living? These people need SO much help. What small amount I can offer feels woefully inadequate.
NYadgal, if everyone contributed as little as $2 hell, even $1 it would be more then enough. Where the hell are all the tax dollars I pay out every year going? Where is single payer healthcare?
Oh wait we must spend it on the military!
Aw, heck! I read that the officer that was injured doesn't even have all HIS medical bill covered! HOW can that be? Yes, his recovery is not as long term as the amputees, but this is a man whose sole job is working to protect us and he was injured while on the job -- how is this right that HIS medical bill aren't covered 100%??
Shameful.
Are you kidding me?

Maybe it's just copays?
...Yeah, I have no idea what kind of police department doesn't totally cover on-the-job injuries like that.
It's not co-pays -- you don't have to fund raise to cover co-pays.
A fund like this doesn't only help with hospital and doctor bills, it also helps with certain family living expenses during treatment and recuperation, more like a disability policy than medical insurance.

Typical Russian immigrant.
lol, I know you dont really mean that Namo....
in fact, Russians and most Eastern European immigrants work harder then the avg "spoiled" Americans. they have to to get ahead. I wont name who, but there are some groups who have been in this country and on welfare for decades and still cant speak the language.
