I don't know how the stats look today but prior to the break-up of the Soviet Union the immigrants from there were statistically the most likely of all immigrant groups in the US to pursue higher education.

Not that a good education guarantees employment nowadays.

Hey, sue, don't give me this BS about Russian immigrants being somehow superior to everyone else. How many of them have been arrested for scamming Medicare and Medicaid ? And they may hate "socialism" but they sure don't turn down any government program that comes their way. All those old and not-so-old Russians who are collecting even though they've never paid a dime in taxes - yeah, they hate socialism. Go peddle your garbage somewhwere else.

As much as I disagree with it I understand that they feel the need to defend their children. Admitting their children did wrong means admitting that they failed as parents (unless they were in on it from the start of course). I really, really hope they don't execute him. I am not entirely unopposed the the death penalty, but in this case, it's especially contra-indicated. One of the comments below the linked article sums it up for me:

"dead he'll serve as nothing but an example of martyrdom - rotting in jail he'll fade into obscurity."

We don't need a martyr.

eta: I'm in complete agreement with Eris. Arguing with this ridiculous troll is incredibly disrespectful to the dead and wounded. Can we not, at least here, pretend this troll doesn't exist? It trivializes the issue.
