Does anyone remember the days of the Broadway.com message board? That it where my board addiction started.
A moment of silence is in order....
Is today an anniversary of its demise or something? I did enjoy the old board, I have to say.
This is my first board and I can't imagine having more fun.
Not sure about the anniversary of its demise, I was just thinking about it last night before I went to sleep.
Yes, I AM a giant nerd.
Oooh, Sum was telling us the evils of that board.
It was roughly as evil as this place is more than capable of being.
Yes, but rarely do we step unto the borderline.
If you say so.
yes, I had a lot of fun on that board.

What do you mean "old board?" This board has nothing to do with that board. This is not the "new board."
It's just a cooler board, 'tis all it is.
Well, this board gained a lot of members when Broadway.com closed its message board, hence it being referred to as the old board.
Sorry to disappoint you but this board would not be HALF as popular if Broadway.com didn't get rid of their board. It's a simple fact. No debate necessary. The thing I miss is that there were many more "adults" on that board as many of it's members, myself included, came over after running away from All That Chat.

I agree with you, Al. I am just saying, Broadway.com is still not the "old board."
Well, it is for those of us, such as Namo, Sueleen, Etoile, myself, etc... that came over here in order to continue our on-line "relationships".

Well, I am glad that you had a place to go.
what's wrong with All That Chat? i've never really spent much time there because the format doesn't agree with my eyes, but is there something wrong with the discussions as well?

It's really slowed down a lot since I first joined. I'm not entirely sure why.
Also, the board has a not-entirely-undeserved reputation for being really harsh.
The 'All That Chat' board is pure evil! What a bunch of know-it-all snobs over there! I was thrown outta there after only two days! Oh well... I've been thrown out of much better places!
I almost happened on the old board. I came here last fall because All That Chat wouldn't let me sign on (AOL is verboten you know). And now, for the first time in my life, I have the word "legend" under my name. Some days, that fact alone helps me cope. Some days. (We aren't always kind to one another, and we sometimes are downright hateful ... but this is a community of sorts.) Others, it at least gives me a place to open my big mouth and spew, baby, spew. So I do. I do go on here, but at least nobody stops me. Not yet.
I long for the day when I too will be granted Legend status. Maybe then someone will finally notice me. I envy you Auggie.

The anniversary of the demise of bway.com's boards is shortly after the anniversay of this site starting up. Essentially, we've already missed it.
And *sigh* I miss the bway.com boards
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...
i don't know anything about the old board but I am glad to have found this one and all of the fun folks who hang around here...thanks much for the laughs and good advice...
Don't envy me, Curtainup2. Any so-called legendary status comes with a price -- a couple of exercised people here PM me now and then ... let's just say ... less than happy with the content of many posts. Those who can ... do--publically; those who can't, send nasty messages in private. Oh well, better to provoke than bore.
Actually, CJR, it's not that close, I don't think. This site was running for a little while before it was announced that the broadway.com board was to close and then it carried on for a while and you could still access it for a fair while from a direct link when they took the entrance to it off of the website. So it's probably about 3 or 4 months different. But we still missed it.
