"Is there a reason why that guy's sleeves do not match?"
Yes, to distract the judges from the jumps he missed.

He is so beautiful.
Poor Jeremy Abbott.
His program just seemed to suck all the air out of the place.

Me too, Sanda. He's a beautiful skater. His devastation was palpable.
I am officially over the constant commercials. And the same commercials over and over.
I really enjoyed Jeremy Evens. He wasn't perfect but I like it when their moves are in synch with the music, and his were. I felt so bad for him when the scores came up.
The gold Team China speed skate outfits are practically obscene. The swede said, "I SEE LABIA!!!"
uncageg, I mentioned the same thing about the commercials a couple of days ago. They are quite annoying and seem to run quite frequently throughout the broadcast.
And now I am a bit tired of that commercial where everyone is saying "ahhh" also.
And Plushenko isn't playing nice. He is subtley dissing Lysachek in interviews. He sounded a bit more arrogant in the piece they did on him before he skated but now he is making comments on Lysacek not doing the quad, knowing Lysacek took it out because he injured himself the last time he did it. I hope lysacek beats him.
Biggest disappointment was Jeremey Abbott. Such a strong skater and I love his short program. I hope that since the pressure is off he has a great long program. He's 24, so this is probably the last Olympics for him.
I'm so glad Plushenko is being exposed for his lack of artistry. I've always felt his flailing arms masked what wasnt going on with his feet. His jumps were terrific, however and it seems he has improved his cheating quad.
Lysacek was perfect, as was Takahashi. Both great performances. Lambiel is one of my all time favorites and am glad he is within striking distance for the medals. Even with mistakes he is terrific and his spins are breathtaking. I'm not that big a fan of Oda.
I really like Johnny Weir and am glad he skated well. He's one of those skaters that I root for. I love that he's different and outspoken, and he's much more respectful of his fellow skaters and skating itself than he used to be, but he is so inconsistent that I cant relax when he skates!
I've been loving Patrick Chan all season...wonderful skater and seemed like such a nice kid, but I recently heard about some trash talking he's been doing about other skaters like Joubert. I did like the piece on him and his old coach.
Speaking of Joubert...so sad!
Didn't know that Vera Wang designed Lysacek's costume. He is the first male skater she has designed for it seems.
They featured a segment on Vera Wang this morning on The Today Show. I liked it and like her a lot.
Even when he doesn't skate cleanly, Stephane Lambiel is a joy to watch. Here's his SP from last night:
I LOVE how the audience reacts at the end.

The Today show feature is how I found out. It was on while I was posting.
One of my new favorites, Florent Amodio from France:

Beautiful. I think I missed him last night while I was at the store. I didn't notice where he was in the standings by the end.
I don't know much about the scoring system, but it seemed to me that Johnny Weir's scores were pretty low considering he skated so well. Loved Lysacek's short program and the fact that he's giving Plushenko a run for his money!
I miss Yagudin terribly, just wanted to put that out there. LOL!
uncageg,
Plushenko was not particularly referring to Lasacek. He was talking about the lack of Quad in the whole Men's skating in general since 06 and he had a valid point. And Lasacek stopped doing Quad since 07 after failing it every single times when he tried it. I still like Evan and enjoyed his hard work. But it is a setback for Man's skating in general since Plushenko retired. So few people tried Quad these days and I missed that excitement.
I, too, thought Weir was scored too low. Lysacek skated well, but I can't get past the fact that he reads (to me) as such a major douche. And, I'm sorry, but he's the epitome of masculinity in skating??? His Cher at the Oscars meets Bird who Attacked Tippi Hedren ensemble was just too, too much.
I kinda want Takahashi to take it all, with Lysacek with the silver and, after King of the Douches Plushenko's utterly disastrous long program, Weir vaults to third. This is the dreamworld in which I live.
"And, I'm sorry, but he's the epitome of masculinity in skating???"
I know right?! LOL
Weir's score is low because his program is so outdated and the quality is behind most top performers. The only chance that he can make into top 5 is to rely a perfect clean program plus a major flaw from his opponents. That's not champion material.
He basically does the same thing over and over since 2005. Slow movement, simple footwork, no quad. There is just nothing stand out from his program, well, maybe that cheesy outfit. At the same time, Lambiel has his spin and choreography (Flamengo 0 Takahashi has his footwork and choreography (Swan Lake and Romeo & Juliett 0
. Thomas Vernor has a complete package with quad .Jubert and Plushenko, for all their critism, can do 4-3. Ambott and Chan got new components and footwork as well.
It's hilarious that in the 08 Nationals the NBC tried to create this "Rivalry" between him and Lasacek. It's so forced. Hello, there might be a rivalry in 05 when Weir won his last Nationl title. These days, Weir is so behind Lasacek there is nothing to write about him.
