"Yeah everyone!
Cut out all of this heterophobia!
If you dont think Plushenko's a god on the ice, and sexy off the ice, you hate all heteros. hun.Sheesh...what an assholish thing to type.
Way to restate what I said into what you want it to say.And where did Plushenko say he hated all homosexuals?
Get a grip and try not to use personal insults.
On to Ice Dance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is anyone else wanting a Gold (or a medal) for Meryl Davis and Charlie White?
I know I am!!!!!
I wish I were more interested in the dance competition, but I'm going to watch.
Jane...youre comment was homophobic, whether you like it or not.
Those things from someone on this board make me lose my grip a bit...there ya go.
I never typed that Plushenko hated all gay people. That question mustve been meant for someone else...I dont know...the contradictions are starting to confuse me at his point.
Grip back in place.
I am officially rooting for White and Davis, MTVMANN...despite their Phantom medley.
The Phantom of the Opera medley is MUCH better than that religious medley of Belbin and Agusto!
Also, I hope that the top Russian team still uses that same Aborignal costume and makeup...in hopes that they will get marked down!!!
I was kind of kidding about the phantom music...it just seems so dated. But their program is gorgeous.
I do like Taneth and Ben, but just dont like their Free program at all.
"Jane...youre comment was homophobic, whether you like it or not"
Which comment - when I said I saw heterophobia on this thread? Sorry you feel that way.
So let's go on with the discussion of dance. All I can say is when is the ladies competition, LOL!
A lot of people on hear don't the Phantom music.
I really like the beginning of their program and the music...not too keen on "Music of the Night"...I think "All I Ask of You" would work better, but they end it well.
"when I said I saw heterophobia on this thread?"
There is NO heterophobia in this thread. We just hate being slammed by certain people (meaning some ice skating folks) who need to endlessly make homophobic, mysogynistic comments about a sport that may have a connotation of 'gayness' that THEY CHOSE TO BE IN. If being thought of as gay is the worst thing to happen in their lives, then they'd best get down on their douchebag knees and thank God for their charmed lives.
And when a bunch of homos lynch a hetero to a fence and beat them to death, then I will entertain someone's cries of 'heterophobia.'
I understand all things (and people) may be equal on Broadway World, but I think we all know that ain't true in the real world.
Whaaaat? 26 pages and not a single post on the Norwegian curling team's pants ..?

My son saw those pants and said "They look like golf pants!" LOL!
I don't know how we haven't discussed those pants yet..but I just became a fan of them on FB!
That is what I LOVE about European men!!!!!! They wear speedo's and stuff like this and think nothing of it!

We were talking about Evgeny Plushenko. Are you referring to his (or his coach?) remark that if you can't do a quad you should skate with the ladies? Well, then you are assuming that every skater who can't do a quad is gay, right? and that he's insulting all gays? I'm not assuming that. He's insulting straight skaters too, and I still think it's a funny remark.
If the sport has a connotation of "gayness", I guess that's why the haters all love it so much and they won't admit it. I'd hate to see it executed without any "gayness" to it.
That ain't got nothing on the Azerbaijan pants during opening ceremonies.

I used to be friends with this French guy named Franck. He wore a speedo. And hot damn did he look hot in it.
Shaun White is on Oprah right now and the audience is going nuts!
UGH! Oprah plays on my NBC affiliate and they switched up her timeslot for the Olympics.
And yeah I got no CTV either so I am stuck with 24/7 Crosby slurping when hockey is even mentioned. Seriously, one moment when the subject was Alex Ovechkin of who he compares to historically in the hockey realm Crosby comes up being a 'winner' whilst Ovie is just happy-go-lucky chopped liver.

It's kind of amusing that NBC fawns over Sidney. I mean, he's Canadian, not American. I think most true hockey fans know that both he and Ovechkin are enormously talented and are good for hockey. Same for Malkin. I'm not sure why it has to be a competition. I'm a little biased because I've known Sidney since he was born but I love watching Malkin and Ovechkin.
figure skating is not a "gay" sport. It's no more gay than gymnastics, diving, snowboarding, etc. Sport is sport. It has nothing to do with sexuality. The whole point is to let the best win. Any homo or hetero bashing agenda is your own agenda.
erinrebecca- It actually kinda hurts to hate on Sidney. I thank him for what he has done for the sport and the 'Burgh especially. But for an athlete so young he is already getting the special treatment in the way Gretzky and Jordan got in their sports, to be fair so does Ovechkin, and it makes it hard to root for him sometimes. I am also disappointed NBC does not even try to give us a story about a member of team USA. I mean Bobby Ryan's story alone is pretty wild. Also Tim Thomas' career trajectory makes him easy to root for as well.

strummergirl- I agree with you on Crobsy and Ovechkin. I don't hate either player, I just hate that they get all the attention. Yes they're the best players in the game right now and I would do anything to have either guy on the Bruins. But their are many other unknown players who have amazing stories that people may not know about. As you pointed out Tim Thomas has an amazing story but so does Patrice Bergeron on team Canada. I wished NBC would focus a bit more on the lesser known players but I know that won't happen
I have a new found respect for Evan Lysacek who just gave a wonderful and gracious interview with Bob Costas. He didn't resort to the smack talk that Yvegeny Pleshenko's been doing in the press today.

Just saw the same interview. Quite gracious and mature. I was impressed.
I hate that he was forced to respond to those quotes in the interview. It minimizes his accomplishment. I wish they'd focus on his great work but instead they have to play to the drama.
