The Canadian's program last night made me saw WOW. They so deserved their gold medal. Did not like the Russian couple one bit - their routine was boring. Belbin and Agosto (and their hideous costumes) bordered on cheesey (and this is coming from someone who likes them). That being said, their program looked better and more difficult than the Russian pair.
When the Russians were doing their twizzles, they were so far apart I yelled "Field Goal!"
And they were kind of slow, too. What is with his flat, stringy hair. Between that and their hideous original dance, I just don't get them.
Dottie, I so agree with you. Wow can't even describe how I felt about that dance program. I missed who choreographed it but the match of choreography and music was exquisite.
Oops, I'm talking about the Canadians!
Plushenko brings the term "sore loser" to a whole new level.

I wonder if when he does a show in Russia he will be announced as the Vancouver Platinum medal winner. LOL! What a douche.
Seems like the Russian and Italian dance teams are handling the results with poise that rivals Plushenko:
Sour grapes
Do these people understand anything about being gracious?
Do Oksana and Maxim realize their free skate was uninspiring? They're lucky they got the bronze, because if I had been one of the judges they definitely would not have been on the medals podium.
Although the Italians skated nicely, I thought their program was unexciting.
The Canadian couple skated a stunning program. It's as simple as that.
I was wondering about the Russians last night. The female looked bitter during the medal ceremony. I mean, do these people act like this in their home countries?
Some of these athletes have entitlement issues.
Alright most of you know I was wanting Davis and White for Gold and Belbin and Agosto for bronze...and none of that happened!
But, I'm okay witht the result. The Canadians were very inspired, and I liked that moment when they stopped in the ice in the middle of the dance.
The big winner are their coaches! Gold and Silver!!!!!!
I hope that both teams continue for 4 years!!! Even though the Canadians won Gold here, they still don't have a WC and perhaps that will keep them going.
But if they do keep on going, I can't see both teams staying with the same coach now...
I'd be more upset for Tanith and Ben if they didn't already have an Olympic Medal.
The Russians are lucky for the bronze...very lucky!
Hopefully the Gods of the Olympics will say "Okay Canada You want Ice Dance Gold? You got it...but it will cost you! Silver in both Hockey Competitions!"
Also...isn't it sad how you used to say:
"Look at the Ice Dancers, their older (than me!)"...and now...well their all younger!!!
I am not sure about the women but if the Men cannot beat Russia two matches from now, they can kiss the medal stands goodbye. They are already panicking about the goaltending but the real issue is that Pronger and Niedmermayer against the younger, faster skaters of the world are very hard to rely on compared to 2002. If I were a Canadian hockey fan I would feel very cynical about those two against Malkin, Ovechkin, Kovalchuk, and Semin. Oh and somehow Marty Brodeur lost all goodwill he had as a Canadian national because he did not have Luongo's Michelin-Man inspired pads and play against Norway. Steve Yzerman and Babcock are the ones who should be blamed into forming this team if they do not medal.
I think it's kinda weird that Canada loosing that hockey game is getting more attention that USA winning...as the USA wasn't expected to medal.

I had a feeling USA would beat Canada in the game. Just seeing the Canada-Swiss game and how Canada was playing made me think that Canada would lose. Not to mention Ryan Miller played an amazing game for the US.
Maybe some of the NJ Devils can tell me this but wasn't Brodeur having bad games leading up to the Olympics? I was pretty impressed by Luongo when he played the Bruins a week before the Olympics. I think he stopped about 41 shots on goal. But then again thats one game.
What really weird is that Canada may face Russia tomorrow night (Canada has to beat Germany tonight)and both teams were thought to get a medal.
Brodeur's game-log:

Keep in mind Paul Martin had been hurt and the team was collectively struggling (which pushed Lou Lamoriello to trade for Kovalchuk).
Luongo game-log:

I really cannot put that much judgment on those two together, different teams, different situations, and different styles (Plus I have zero clue about anything Canucks-related). But I got to say Babcock panicking already in an easy-win scenario against Germany just looks bad not only because it looks completely disrespectful to Brodeur (though his behavior has hardly been model citizen post-loss) but you are just giving the Russians more confidence that they are playing a stage-frightened team. The only reason that could justify this move is to get Luongo off the long rest before playing Russia.

Personally I think the ultimate panic move would have been starting Fleury (not that he's a bad goal tender). Barring a major meltdown Canada should win tonight. Against Russia? Who knows but Sloakia was able to beat them and hold them to only one goal.
I adore Ryan Miller. He's my son's favorite Sabre.
I was just watching Dick Button on Univ.Sp. I love his commentary.
Anyway, he cited both the Canadians and the US dances as ranking with Torvill and Dean, which I agree. But on the humorous side, he was saying how he hated the way everyone tries to do a Bielman Spin, but instead of looking graceful, they are grabbing a leg and pulling it any way it will go. It reminds him of a turkey, and the leg being pulled off!
He didn't appreciate the costumes either.
Now I'm looking at Katarina Witt who has a face lift.
I'm watching the long jumpers now, and I have to say it's just amazing to watch them fly through the air like that!
The slo-mo is the best. It's like they just hang there.
I wonder what would happen if you put webbing, like a duck, under the arms and between the legs?
