Does anyone know why the Swiss team wasn't in today's team jump competition? I really miss that Simon Ammann guy, he has such an engaging personality.

There are only two Swiss skijumpers so that's why there was no Swiss team in that competition.
End of the first period. Canada 1, Germany 0. Canada outshot them 14-4.
I heard the Swiss did not have the requisite number of jumpers to make a full team.
OK, I just got all choked up watching the parents of the skater from Turkey.
I did too Dottie.

Me too! They were so cute. Their daughter reminded me of Sofia Coppola.
Whew, glad I'm not alone.
Did NBC really just show a close-up of a ten year-old girl watching her mother crash on ski cross? Really? REALLY?
Frank Carroll really deserves a female gold medalist, especially all those times he came so close.
He had Michelle for a just a while, right?
Kwan? Yes, he was her former coach, but she never won the Olympic gold. He also came close with Linda Frattianni in 1980 (Silver).
Is it just me or are there a lot of Asian competitors in women's figure skating this year? They're like the new Soviets. Even the new American and Australian skaters were of Asian descent.
Wow, how about that coach who gave the wrong instructions to the Dutch speed skater, costing him a possible gold medal?
madbrian...Just saw it. They sure did show the little girl. It almost seemed like a set up. They made a big deal about her being there and then her mom crashes. I am sure it wasn't but they didn't need to do that close up. But the media thrives on stuff like that.
orange, I was thinking the same thing. That first girl that skated was also of Asian descent.
My heart goes out to the skater who lost her mother on Sunday.
So tragic. Such a surreal time for her, I'm sure.
Heard about that this morning. So sad.
So I am looking forward to this video on Friday for the Mariah Carey Olympic song. I like the song.
"My heart goes out to the skater who lost her mother on Sunday."
Joannie Rochette of Canada.
I had a feeling I was wrong with France!
Since Dick Button made his comments about skaters who grab a leg and pull it wherever it will go, I've been taking closer notice to those moves tonight.
I'm not talking about the Bielmann move as much as when the skater stretches her leg vertically straight up, hold her skate blade, and skates around that way. Well, this might be an unpopular opinion (so what) but I don't think those moves are particularly attractive. Especially when they hold the leg in front of them and and their back takes on an awkward curve. Yet every woman seems to try it.
I actually liked Mao Asada's program better.
I'm holding my breath watching this Canadian girl skate.
I'm so glad she nailed it!
My heart is just breaking for her.
