The ice dancers' costumes have become so much more subdued than in recent years...except for Belbin and Agosto.
While I was rooting for the Americans, I can't quibble with that decision. Now, I'll hope for Tanith & Ben to overtake the Russians for the bronze.
Stunning performance by Virtue and Moir. They have great taste in costumes and music, too.
I'm not sure about Belbin and Agosto's costume. He looks more "Jesus Christ Superstar" than "Ave Maria."
Does Ben Agosto remind anyone else of Roberto Benigni?
OK, so these Russians don't belong on the same ice as any of the other last four couples. Plus, they're using the ropes in their costumes to aid in their lifts?
I'm I hearing things or did the Russians just also include Requiem for a Dream?
Re: The Russians...As Harvey Fierstein said as Edna Turnblad, "I don't care for them."
I mean Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin. Not all Russians. Just want to be clear.
".except for Belbin and Agosto."
I know. I didn't think Belvin could get a worse costume than the last round, but she managed!
Yeah, I thought her other costumes in all 3 dances were terrible.
So, giving the Russians the bronze is just a joke. On an otherwise superlative night of skating, they stuck out like a sore thumb.
I agree Mad! And I think using the "ropes" was cheating!
The Russians were the very definition of mediocrity. How the hell did they get a bronze medal?!
They put a curse on the judges!
Virtue and Moir are SO adorable!
Thank you, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. Yay, Canada!
Is it me, or does Tessa Virtue look like Mary Louise Parker?
I have been saying that for days canmark!
Agreed, canmark!
Of course, I'm biased, but I'm SO happy for them. They were lovely.
They just finished here. I thought the Russians program was slow and just a bit sloppy at one point. The commentators were talking about the "controversy" over the ropes on their costumes but I guess that didn't bother the judges.
The Canadian ice dancers are SO adorable! I loved them!
"The commentators were talking about the "controversy" over the ropes on their costumes but I guess that didn't bother the judges."
If it were anyone other than the Russians, it WOULD have bothered the judges. Big time.
The Canadians were spectacular...I am so glad they won, and Davis/White were also terrific, but the Canadians had a better program. I think Davis/White should've won the Original Dance, but it wouldnt have mattered after last night. Both teams were amazing and I was so proud.
The Russians were simply not up to the level of the other three, and Belbin and Agosto were robbed. The old school rules still apply I guess. I wonder what wouldve happened if they got 4th.
Still, Belbin/Agosto...what were you thinking?! They are GREAT dancers, but both Original and Free dances were boringly choreographed. Seriously....Ave Maria? In an Olympic year?!
Actually, I think you could make a very strong case for the Italians deserving the bronze.
