Posted: 2/15/14 at 10:53amNot that anyone probably cares about this sport, but the US men lost to Russia in Curling yesterday. I was watching that on CNBC last night. It was so close too. They were tied and we lost it by a millimeter or so.

My husband and I watched that game Marianne, it was a heartbreaker. My husband is a bit of a curling nut. Pictured here with our daughter.
Having a problem trying to post a photo. I put it on photobucket. But the link isn't working correctly. Can anyone offer any tips? Much thanks.

The Men's hockey game was unbelievable! I posted a few photos on Facebook but wish I'd been able to capture the energy in the Hockey Arena. Thrilling!
Am flying home tomorrow. I have to say this has been an unbelievable experience. The people we met were just wonderful. I have to find words to share it all with you
So fraught with controversy, all of the negative media reports and the very real issues surrounding these Games - what really mattered was that the people of the world joined together in peace to celebrate national pride, human achievement and celebrating a wonderful tradition
I wish I could stay longer.

Safe flight. You can paint me green with envy too - what a job, where do I send my resume? :)

Posted: 2/17/14 at 11:13amI'm currently watching the dance final (figure skating) and noticed there is another routine that is done to James Bond/Mike Hammer-type music, where the skaters use their hands/fingers to form a gun. All I could think of was those poor 8-year old kids in elementary school who are being suspended for doing the same thing.

Girly, that was the only thing I didn't like about this Olympics.
They did a 'flower ceremony' following each of the medal competitions, but saved the Medal Ceremony (with flags and national anthems) for an event each night, in the general plaza by the Olympic flame.
To me, standing in the venue, fresh off the 'win', watching the procession of flags being brought in and raised, medals given out, and national anthems played is what makes the Olympics so special - and not just another sports competition. I really, really missed it this time.
And will continue to miss it as I watch on TV for the rest of the week.
The 'flower ceremony' isn't the same!

Posted: 2/17/14 at 3:30pm^ Good to know. I was confused to not see any at all so far.m Now I know why. Stupid idea. It definitely takes something away from the whole event.

Posted: 2/17/14 at 3:36pmBoston is working on their bid for the 2026 Winter Games and their website states that they are proposing night medal ceremonies on Boston Common, open to the general public. I think this is becoming the new standard at the Winter Games.

Posted: 2/17/14 at 10:37pmThat there, what I just saw (the Russians doing Swan Lake), was magnificent. The most gorgeous ice dance I ever saw, aside from Torvil and Dean.

Posted: 2/17/14 at 11:11pmYAY! So deserved!!!!!! Congratulations Meryl and Charlie!! I think the Russian pair deserved the silver. Tessa and Scott just didn't have a great program, IMO.

Posted: 2/17/14 at 11:21pmDoodle, I swear that Tara and Johnny were ready to give Tessa & Scott the GOLD after their program. UGH! LOVE Meryl & Charlie.

Posted: 2/17/14 at 11:25pmI am glad that Meryl and Charlie won. I did like Tessa and Scott too, but looking back on both programs now, definitely the US team had a more interesting program. I'm also laughing now because at least some Canadians were so pissed off earlier and were whining and saying that this was rigged. All I can say is that those people are sore losers.

Meryl and Charlie. Dancing together for 17 years. Just incredible!

Posted: 2/17/14 at 11:41pmI'm glad Meryl and Charlie won but the Canadians did go all out and should have gotten higher scores, I think. I could never, ever be a judge though.

Posted: 2/18/14 at 9:52amI thought that Meryl and Charlie skated their free dance better at the US Championships, but I still think last night they had a better routine than any of the other couples. I cannot imagine how exhausted they all must be, especially the couples that also did the team competition, so it was amazing how high the level of all the dances were last night.

Posted: 2/18/14 at 3:04pmI thought both Meryl/Charlie and Tessa/Scott skated to perfection, but all the hype swung to the American's favor as if it was "their turn" to win the gold.

Posted: 2/18/14 at 3:11pmThe American pair has been undefeated for the past two seasons, so it wasn't hype as much as it was momentum. If anything, the Canadians benefited from whatever hype there was, otherwise the Russians would have won the silver.
