I'm guessing the comments from the judges regarding that particular wardrobe feature were edited out. How could they not ever mention it? They usually go nuts if there is even a hint of ass cheek hanging down much less...you know...things of a labiacal nature, so to speak. Though I'm sure it would be a hit among certain fetishists. Robin Byrd would probably wear it.

Well, I guess we now know for sure that the black box was covering a bit more than just some camel toe. I kind of figured as much from the way she kept trying to cover herself on the runway, but now there's pretty definitive proof.
I think there was definitely producer intervention on this judging. He should have gone home for that, no matter how much better his construction was over the one who did go home.

Maybe there was a last minute model switch and his reaction to it didn't warrant attention.

I can't believe I'm about to defend his staying, but I don't think it was just a matter of better construction throughout the rest of the garment (vag shot notwithstanding). I think he actually had a rather inspired idea for the challenge: recreate one of the pin-up girls painted on WWII planes. As opposed to the saddest little poncho in the world and sartorial equivalent of the bombing of Dresden (BUT IT WAS SUSTAINABLE!!), it had thought behind it. And I think that's what saved him.

Personally, I thought the ill-fitting sack Karen came up with was the most unflattering and ill-fitting of the bunch. Far worse than the rain poncho. And Alexander's design was like some sort of new-fangled maxi-pad.
Timothy is certainly ambitious, but far too immature in his aesthetic and sense of personal style to sell whatever it is he thinks the judges (or viewing audience) will buy. It's pretty obvious he hasn't spent nearly enough time in the sustainable POV or whatever he was doing in heels to pull any of it off. As much as I DETEST Alexander's eyebrows, like so many other off-beat quirky designers, there is a sense of cohesive style that is clearly comfortable to THEM and therefore, easier to comprehend. Timothy is still trying to navigate his own path, but hasn't yet arrived at any destination and as a result, he's trying WAY too hard.

FINALLY caught the first episode!
OMG is that sustainable boy irritating. I almost yelled at the TV when he started burning the rip stop fabric. That has got to be majorly toxic! And, if his model wasn't allowed to wear shoes, then why in the fcuk was he wearing them?!
I couldn't stop laughing at the black box but also wondered why NONE of the judges said anything, if indeed she was showing off her bubble gum. The outfit was actually kind of cute.
I said to my husband that rain poncho looked like something you'd buy at a theme park so you don't get wet on the water rides and that's EXACTLY what they called it!

I STILL don't get it. OK, the vagina outfit may have been a good concept, or it may have had excellent craftsmanship, but the fact that he allowed this model to wear something that exposed her most private parts is simply not acceptable. He could have fixed it, but he didn't because he approved of it. His disrespect was showing along with her skin.
