Project Runway, anyone?

So far, I think I like the changes...anonymous judging, Tim getting one save during the season, NO TEAMS.

A few real beautiful first desings, a few real biotchy personalities, too.

Loved both of the designers that ended up on top.
Really disliked: Helen, Aleandria, & Timothy (what an idiot).

And I like how they are not overplaying (so far) the deaf contestant.

hate that idiot sustainable guy.....he needs to go.

I personally am loving all the challenges. I really liked that the judges got up close and personal with the garments.

The eco-friendly Timothy kid annoys the hell out of me.
#5

Project Runway, anyone?

I always just assume that up close part happened off camera. Shows how much I actually know about fashion shows.

It looks like it will be a fun season.

The black box nearly killed me. NEARLY KILLED ME. I want to know just how much of the vagina was visible! Or was is just profound camel toe?
#7

Project Runway, anyone?

I don't know which model I felt worse for: The one with her cootchie hanging out or Timothy's model who was refused be able to look like anything LIKE a model.

Project Runway, anyone?

I think the "black box" was much ado about nothing. If her vag was REALLY just hanging out the judges would have said something and they most certainly would have SHOWN them say something about it.
#9

Project Runway, anyone?

Right? That's why I just think it was camel toe. Which I see daily, so really...what's the big deal?
#10

Project Runway, anyone?

I thought something more would be said about the vag hanging out other than "I question his taste." Oh well.

that a- hole "sustainable fashion" will probably be kept on because everyone's talking about him. If you ask me, he's trying very hard to be the one that's talked about. I mean, those shoes? Him jumping up and down. the model was crying because she wanted hair and makeup. oy. I don't like him at all.

I see that since they've eschewed the team element they need to get people that are primed for fighting. Every sound bite from the opening scene was "I'm a b!tch and everyone will hate me but who cares."

The new twists or whatever you want to call them are fine but seem unnecessary. What's the purpose of blind judging when the designers explode whenever their garment walks out. The Tim Save is fine but it's basically just ripping off SYTYCD.

Can we talk about the BELK WALL for a second? HAHAHAHA! Belk. "Something something for the Southern woman." The show is filmed in NYC so that's good synergy.

Sustainable Unicorn is the most annoying person this show has ever seen. I'm so glad that Zac Posen called him out about the burning thing too because I thought it as soon as he was doing it. The glittery high heels?!?! I CAN'T with her! He does realize he's on a reality show and not at home on the range, right? They couldn't eliminate him because they have to milk the feud between him and the other Milwaukee person for all its worth.

I can't really tell you much about the other designers because there are a million of them. Anyone else think the "I don't know how to use a sewing machine" lady looks like SJP's leather sister? Also when was this show filmed since that drag queen said he costumed for POPPINS which is about to close?

Clyde, YES, I thought the same thing about the Poppins comment! So that would put the filming in Jan/Feb? (Which is odd since when they were at the airstrip it was mild weather.)

Hmmmmm......???

My favorite "twist" and one that I'm sure will really screw with people is that they get their entire budget for fabric at one time.
#14

Project Runway, anyone?

See, I was wondering about that because they never really explained it. If that was the case then they should have introduced that during a challenge where they actually have to buy fabric.

I thought it was just like "we're still going to Mood but we needed another sponsor so you'll just be paying with this card."

I think someone said that next week when they go to Mood (because they didn't go last night I don't think) it'll really be tricky.
#16

Project Runway, anyone?

They're going to have to give the designers their season total at Mood. they can't blindly spend thousands in one trip and then be left with nothing.

Please don't laugh but that show has taught me everything I know about fashion. An ex-girlfriend got me hooked during the 2nd season. It's the only reality TV show that I still watch.

Predictably the 1st episode this season was all about the 'characters' & setting up the feuds. I agree that Mr. Sustainable Wear is one of the most annoying PR designers ever, followed closely by Mr. I'm-Too-Sexy-For-My-Cat Sandro. Sandro screams NARCISSISM. He reminds me of that uber-bitch Elena Slivnyak from season 10. Could you imagine him cast last season when teams were all the rage? I'm so glad they pulled the plug on that team "ish" because poor Michelle Lesniak Franklin suffered early on at the hands of her teammates.

<--Anyone else think the "I don't know how to use a sewing machine" lady looks like SJP's leather sister?-->

Yep...but a much sexier version of SJP in leather to me.

It usually takes 1 or 2 rounds of herd thinning before I rally behind a particular designer or send a few straight to hell. But, I was underwhelmed by the costume designer/drag queen's first showing despite his self-assuredness. I have a sneaking suspicion that he'll be sent to the chopping block by the 4th episode.

The nightmare scenario though is that they'll keep Sandro around until deep into the season for entertainment value. I cannot believe he let the word 'humble' roll off his tongue while attempting to lecture Alexandria over the lunch break. Dude's got stones because I suspect that there are 2 or 3 designers who are going to let him have it real soon on full blast.

I like Kate but I don't know any female over the age of 12 who would be caught dead in anything she's designed either last season or this. She strikes me as a somewhat nice albeit passive-aggressive designer. But everything she designs looks like a garment that my female cousins put on their Barbie dolls back in the 60s. I mean is she designing for Cindy Brady or what?

Gosh I hope they feature more menswear this season.

I'm going to guess that they'll talk more about their budgets when they first have to use it. I wonder what will happen with the money that's left over from an eliminated designer. They should give it to the winner of that challenge...REALLY make it worth their while to win.

No laughter from me, javero. I still wear the same blue jeans and T-shirts I wore in the 1970s. (Well, if I'm honest, the blue jeans now have larger waist sizes.)

And yet I have never missed an episode of PROJECT RUNWAY. I love that we not only see the creative process, but we see the final result. (As opposed to cooking shows where I can't taste the products.)

Project Runway, anyone?

"Sustainable" will be kept around for a while because he'll provide some great sound bites, but he won't win (obviously).

It's always hard to tell who's who during the first few episodes, but the over-tanned, non-sewing machine using one won't last. Unless she's covering up her sewing experience to throw everyone off guard there's no way she'll be able to keep up, especially now that they are actually going to be looking at the construction of the garments up close, which has not happened in previous seasons.

I knew from the start of last season that the team aspect would only last one season. It was just too much of a gimmick to be carried out more than once.

Homestate pride should have me rooting for the Milwaukee twins but they're both so fobnoxious I just can't stand them.

I like the blind judging -- they should have been doing that all along. How many designers were allowed to stay based on Michael and Nina's defense of their previous work, even though they sucked that week? (Heidi even got in an argument with them and had to remind them of the whole theme: One day your in, the next day you're out.) I don't know how they're going to keep the judges from seeing and hearing them giggle about their own designs though. Unless the lights really are that bright and they can't see across to the contestants.
#23

Project Runway, anyone?

I think that light really are that bright, you'll notice on numerous occasions the judges will hold their cards up to their faces just to see the runway.
#24

Project Runway, anyone?

The blind judging won't really change things that much, especially towards the end. While there may sometimes be a surprise, once you get into the final 8 or so the judges will often be able to tell who sent which look down the runway without even having to have the name in front of them. And of course it's only the runway itself that is "blind," once they get to the critique portion they know who did what.

And in addition to the lights helping to shield the designers' reactions from the judges remember that there is also music (probably blaring) during the runway and the designers are whispering to each other through the whole thing. We can hear them fairly clearly because of their microphones, but those whispers are probably not nearly as likely to make it across the room to the judges.

I think both Mila and Santino put it best in their blogs, what's really going to change outcomes is the judges getting to look at everything up close. Hot glue and safety pins aren't going to go over nearly as well as they have in the past.
