Posted: 5/12/06 at 2:56pmJane - I totally get what you are saying, and I also believe that something should have been said to your friends. I also think that sometimes we become so comfortable in certain gatherings - especially those we connect with over vast periods of time - we take for granted the relationships we create. Maybe your friends were seeing you as "one of the guys" and did not realize that they were being offensive. I have been that way with people, not on purpose, but always apreciated being told when I have crossed a line.

Did I say you were blaming us? Nope. But I also feel that it hurt you more than you're admitting if you can carry it around with you this long, ergo, you should have said something. I think, being your friends, they would have seen your point of view.
Robbie: that was it. I'll need some fashion sense from Kelen in order to get into character.
And Iflit - I mean, Dick - will look great in a three-piece suit, I think.

I think women who prefer gay men enjoy the acceptance from a male figure. There's no pressure to impress or seduce, and I think alot of little girls are still looking for a man to validate them for whatever reason--bad father, sh!tty boyfriend, bad marriage, etc. Just like many gay boys want the straight boys to like them to make them feel less "different."
We all want to be liked. Some of us just choose to pick friends from a certain segment of the population.
Internal rifts exist in almost every community--think of the attitudes that many African people have about African-Americans--I witnessed this firsthand with my landlady-neighbor. Or the pro-choice Catholics. Or pro-gay Republicans.

As a hetero woman with a throng of gay male friends, I definitely agree with the above statement. I find myself drawn towards gay men primarily because I enjoy the companionship of males, but dislike much of the initial flirtations, attractions, complications that come with friendships with straight men. It seems as though every single hetero male that I befriend first has to go through this whole "should we try a romance" phase which is a bit daunting. That baggage is not there with gay men. As a result we are able to begin an open and honest friendship much more quickly than I am with straight men.
And, it also just happens that I find far more gay men that share my interests (i.e. theatre) than straight men.

As long as you work that tie, Flitty, it won't matter what you wear.

Posted: 5/12/06 at 3:11pmMisogynistic gay men should not make fun or insult those of us who have vaginas. Didn't come out of one when they were born?

"Ginormous Vag"
You know what's REALLY funny? People who THINK they are sly with an inside joke, but don't realize that the person they are making fun of knows EXACTLY what they are referring to. That's hilarious.
I know you two faggots can't comprehend my friendship with D and think it's worth mocking. Fine. You can both go f*** yourselves. C***s.

singer-I'm not carrying around with me to this day, as I told you in my pm. I said I remember it to this day, as it made an impact. It's clear that you and I don't communicate well. Let's just leave it at that.
SOMMS-these are RAO's meatballs!

OK...I'll cop to trading in misogynistic humor. How many times have I said in response to the question "You've NEVER been with a woman?"
Honey, last time I touched a vagina was 1974 when I fled my mother's.
