What is the scariest movie of ALL time? For me, the Titanic. In general, without a doubt, the Exorcist. Anyone??
It's a Wonderful Life. That movie can turn any cynic into a sentimentalist, and that scares me.

Actually, that movie makes me even more cynical.

Shame on you, Poppy. I reckon a weekend in Bedford Falls would do you the power of good.
Dang. I just meant to make a quick joke, not a full-on threadjack.

Gigli, Glitter and Dude, Where's My Car - the fact that these films got greenlit is scary
Left Behind. The fact that we have a president who gives a lot of attention to and therefore could be basing foreign policy on the ideology of its makers -- two people whose mumbo-jumbo comes from a very twisted interpretation of a few select biblical passages -- terrifies me.

Seriously. Did anyone think the Exorcist was scary. What was.
I thought the OMEN was kind of freaky. Of course, I was VERY young when I first saw it. But when I saw when I was older, I just found it very...mind-numbing.
Things like the Manchurian Candidate generally chill me a bit too...(there was also a L&O:SVU episode about anthrax...very scary...)

The Exorcist is by far the scariest movie ever.
I didn't see it all the way through until I was in my late twenties, because it freaked me out so much. That is one scary MF movie!
The Shining is also pretty scary.

Actually, I have never thought Exorcist was *that* scary. Maybe if I would have seen it when it first came out, but I turned the video off years ago because I was bored and then when it was re-released in theaters my wife and I went and saw it and I actually fell asleep at one point. I mean, it is a good movie just . . . I don't know.
The scariest movie for me, is NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3: DREAM WARRIORS and I will tell you why. When I was in elementary school (3rd grade I think) my babysitter had her friend over and she brought that video and my babysitter held me while we watched it. I was SCARED SH*TLESS and I had a very vivid nightmare for a week which I still remember. If you want me to tell the nightmare, I will but . . . WHOO!!
A lot of people have said stuff like "Well, I don't get what is so Scary about The Exorcist!"
Well for me, being a christian I believe that something like that COULD REALLY HAPPEN and the fact that the demon said it was the Devil himself was really scary to me. So that's why I find it scary. Plus that voice!
However the scariest time for me in a movie theater watching Signs! EVERYONE was Screaming! But then we would laugh at everyone for screaming, so it was funny :)

Tell it! And the Exorcist was ONLY scary when it came out, just cause of the whole vomiting in the theaters and misscarriage incident due to the movie terror.
I would vote for Halloween. When I first saw that movie years ago it scared me to death. It is amazing how great a horror classic could be made on such a low budget and with minimal gore/special effects. The camera shots/angles John Carpenter used in that movie were excellent and really made it chilling...and who could forget the MUSIC!!!

HALLOWEEN is my all time favorite horror movie. That too scared the fool out of me when I first saw it many-a-year ago.

yeah come on spider you must indulge our desires to have dark nightmares retold
Aight!!!
Nightmare flashback . . . take 1 . . . ANNNNNNNND ACTION!!!!!
I get off the bus after school and go to my front door. I reach in my pocket, pull out my house key, and proceed to unlock my door, when all of a sudden the door slowly squeaks open. When I step inside, I say, "Mom . . . Dad???" I close the door behind me and when I start walking I slip on something wet on the floor. I look down, and the floor is covered in blood and there is a trail of it leading to the laudry room, where the door leading into it is shut. I open the door and turn the light on, when I realize my dad is hanging from the light switch hanging from the ceiling with his entrails on the floor. I run screaming through my house trying to find my mom and sister. I can't find them downstairs, so I run upstairs to my parent's bed room. When I go in the bedroom, I find that my mom and sister are trapped inside the stand up mirror and they are screaming for my help. All of a sudden, Freddy Kruegar steps out of the bathroom and grabs me and tells me that I have one hour to kill him or he smashes the mirror, killing both my sister and mom.
ANNNNNNND . . . CUT!!!
And I had this dream for a week and every night I lost and he smashed the mirror and I woke up screaming. The last night, I finally beat him and I never had that nightmare again.
Ps. My babysitter was fired shortly there after.
