Let us also remember that this Innauguration extravaganza has been bought and paid for by the corporate oligarchy of special interests that also paid for the Bush campaign and effectively put him in office. For Chenoweth or anyone else to perform for these noxious lowlifes and be part of their orgy of self-congratulation is despicable. To each his own, I suppose, but for me, this completely changes my view of Chenoweth.

OK people, GET OVER IT. Bush is the President, there is a huge friggin inaugural party here (the Federal government in DC is closed on the 20th and is considering closing early on the 19th) and people are going to sing at it. Morally I wouldn't sing at his party, but from a business standpoint anyone would be a fool not to. At least they will have some music sung by a broadway star. This protracted political discussion is getting very old - if you want to drone on about it, go to slate.com. Let's talk about how good it is that they aren't just having the Oak Ridge Boys perform. I don't agree with the choice of the American electorate but rather than whining about it I am trying to do what I can to make a change.

I sing for myself. I sing when I want, whenever I want to, just for me. I sing for my own pleasure. Do you understand that?

Pfft. If you're talking corporate whoredom, that's both parties. The Republicans are just moreso.

Hmm..it changes my view, too!

Now, I like her even more!

Maybe it's the fact that she's on The West Wing, now...

Chenoweth may be big in Broadway-oriented circles, but she's certainly not at a point in her career where it would be prudent to turn down work. Bottom line.

I'm just saying that it's silly to presume Chenoweth's political beliefs based on her performing at this event.

Oh, but shouldn't you assume she loves Bush - and completely intended to insult the Broadway community that supports her - and doesn't care about the gay/lesbian issues - and could care less that our country is being run by such a villian?

I think that's all obvious by her accepting the innaugural performance.

*sarcasm intended*

You're right Magic8. It's ridiculous. Updated On: 1/13/05 at 05:16 PM

For some reason, I can't find it in my emails. I'll have my friend send me the link again!

As for the memo, Plum, everything was not in a vaccuum (sp???). The memo, mixed with the incredibly increased chatter mixed with warnings from the previous administration (who didn't do a whole helluva lot either) that this is the number one concern to known operatives living in the US and you have something that appears to have been MONUMENTALLY botched.

And even if all that is just supposition, how could Condi Rice say that thought NEVER crossed her mind?

Honey;
Kathie Lee loves broadway too. And she has many gay hairdressers. I still hate her and want to single handedly pull out all her teeth one by one. Kristin ( or Christian .. like some of us who worked on a tv special with her a few years ago liked to call her) is just as grating.

Exactly my point - Cheno needs the money, needs the work, needs to get herself known as a powerhouse singer.

Whatever side you're on this is NOT a good career choice for any performer. The business is heavily liberal in sentiment - as we all know - and this will not sit well with a lot of people. She can only be doing it because she genuinely supports Bush.

"I find this thread utterly immature and quite ridiculous.
The woman can perform for who she pleases and have whatever political/moral view she pleases. It's the same for everyone. And anyone who challenges that doesn't understand the concept of America. Anyone who turns their back on Chenoweth because of this: Shame on YOU!!! "

Amen to that

mallardo:

You clearly have twisted views about how a performer a) makes a living, and b) gains exposure.

I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' Money and all aside,

Except it! Bush is president and at least KC is supposrting the president, which means she is supporting America.

Okay- comments about why supporting Bush is supporting America are just unnecessary.

Just an observation, but it seems as if the same things keep getting said over, and over, again.

But again, it's just an observation, and perhaps i'm just crazy.
