I would hope that most people in the theatre community would be proud that Kristin Chenoweth is on her way to becoming a known entity throughout the U.S. Granted, Kristin's political views are probably shared by a minority of folks in the Broadway community. So be it. Are we to bash her because her political ideas are different than our own? That seems rather shallow. Does she have great musical talent? Most of us would tend to agree that she does. Let's celebrate that! Kristin is entitled to her beliefs as every BWWer is entitled to his or hers. Personally, I think that Kristin is rather brave, as she must have known that she would receive some sort of backlash from the theatre community over her decision to participate in the Inauguration Ceremonies. The last time I checked, most folks on this board espoused opinions in favor of tolerance, diversity and acceptance of minorities and minority opinions. Do we really believe in that always...or only when it suits our own purposes?
This is the dumbest, most ridiculous waste of a thread.

the only thing im going to say is that if you wont buy kristin's cd because of her political beliefs than you are just as close-minded as you claim the president to be...
and who really gives a flying f*u*ck anyway ... does it make her less of a performer..no.

I am undecided...
but btwn kerry and bush - I think you can tell who I like better...
OK, sounds good magic8ball
magic8ball I said nothing about supporting Bush. Far from it. Read again.
'Bush is president and at least KC is supposrting the president, which means she is supporting America.'
Wait...WHAT?
That's the biggest piece of Commie bullsh*t I've heard in quite a long time.
And I love the 'She needs the money' argument. What is she, a welfare mother???
YES...she can make ANY career choice she wants. And part of me thinks she's pretty darn corageous to stand up for what she believes in, no matter the fact that I believe everything this Administration (not Republicans...THIS Administration) stands for is abhorrent.
Aside from her political views... I CAN'T STAND THE WITCH!

robbie,
Bush won...if the extra large whale learned to live with it, so can the rest of the country. He won...so support him for 4 years and help him make (keep) America great.
And Commie would be if she didn't support the president....
I guess it's a double standard though!
'And Commie would be if she didn't support the president....'
No it wouldn't. Commie is implying that one is anti-American if one does not support the current President.
I accept that he was voted in. I have no choice.
But I also have no choice but to do everything I legally can to work against a hateful and dangerous agenda. And THAT, my dear, is America at work.
And if ya don't like it...LEAVE!
(I've always wanted to use that line on a Bush supporter!)
I vote for 'Brick House'.
But, then again, I always vote for 'Brick House'.
Robbie;
I had asked you earlier in this thread to post a link to that website??????
I know...I posted (but it got lost in my fury) that I can't find the email my friend sent with the link. I've asked him to send it to me again, but I haven't heard back from him yet!
I haven't forgotten about you, nut!
You know, I can't get myself worked up over this.
I loathe Bush and everything his administration stands for, but I don't feel the need to tar-and-feather Chenoweth for doing something that is really HER decision alone.
I will say I would have been INCENSED had she performed at the GOP Convention.
Here's a link to the song I wish she would perform.
Dick Is A Killer
i prefer to shop at gay-owned stores because that's just the kinda guy i am.
or is it that it's just the kind of gay you are? hmmmmm?
commie is implying that one is anti-american if one does not support the current president.
technically, i think it's more towards the line of totalitarianism, since it has nothing to do with any kind of communal or government ownership of land and business entities.
master, i effin' love that song!
In her cutest voice she should sing Political Science by Randy Newman. For those of you not familier the lyrics are- :)
No one likes us
I don't know why.
We may not be perfect
But heaven knows we try.
But all around even our old friends put us down.
Let's drop the big one and see what happens.
We give them money
But are they grateful?
No they're spiteful
And they're hateful.
They don't respect us so let's surprise them;
We'll drop the big one and pulverize them.
Now Asia's crowded
And Europe's too old.
Africa's far too hot,
And Canada's too cold.
And South America stole our name.
Let's drop the big one; there'll be no one left to blame us.
We'll save Australia;
Don't wanna hurt no kangaroo.
We'll build an all-American amusement park there;
They've got surfing, too.
Well, boom goes London,
And boom Paris.
More room for you
And more room for me.
And every city the whole world round
Will just be another American town.
Oh, how peaceful it'll be;
We'll set everybody free;
You'll have Japanese kimonos, baby,
There'll be Italian shoes for me.
They all hate us anyhow,
So let's drop the big one now.
Let's drop the big one now.
I love Kristin very much and respect her a lot. Do I agree with her politically? Not at all. But Kristin is living proof that not *everyone* who supports Bush is a bonehead. 99% of them are though.
kangaroo said it perfectly...she's woman enough to stand up infront of the country for what and who she believes in. good for her! regardless of my political position, i support her even more for standing up for what she believes in.

Oh, I just love it when people conflate support of an administration with support of America as a nation. Especially when it's implied if you don't like the administration, you're some kind of traitor. (The commie thing is completely off-target, though.)
I love America, and its system of government. That doesn't mean I have to love whoever happens to be occupying its offices at the moment. The cool thing about this country is that every few years, the people in those offices change. My loyalty and affection are for the system, not for whatever administration happens to be in power. President Bush does not equal America, and thank goodness for that.

I think saying 'Shame on Kristin Chenoweth' is completely uncalled for. As has been said many times on this board, people have different views. I believe that Ms. Chenoweth has made a very wise decision, and I am a democrat. Scold me and put me in my place if you feel you must but who would deny the chance that she is being given? Weather she likes the President or not, the fact that him and his wife enjoy her talents and asked her to sing at such a huge and highly publicized event is a great honor and she was wise to take advantage of it. Just my opinion.
