Islam is not a "they".  I agree on criticizing those who radicalize and bastardize a religion in order to exterminate a minority based on hate, but targeting Islam on the whole and throwing in others as a parenthetical is naive at best and hypocritical at worst.  It wasn't "Islam" that played a role in the shootings.  It was the individuals involved.

And as for the parenthetical institutions, the individuals responsible for the monstrous aftermath are as much terrorists as the shooter.

Except it's not.  You can theorize how any ideology can be used as a tool, but that is another subject and a different argument.  The single common trait in mass shootings has been guns, not religion.

You forgot beheadings, burning people alive, dropping them into a vat of acid or throwing them off roof's .

It is amazing many who decry people owning a gun for protection always have armed bodyguards surrounding them . Bit of a disconnect there wouldn't you say? Should people be able to own bazookas, mortars, machine guns, or semi automatics. Nope there is no reason for it. Should responsible people need a handgun for protection and a rifle for hunting be able to get one? The answer is yes. Should people have a gun for every day of the year? No. A little common sense on both sides would be nice people

To be far more accurate: the single common trait is warped ideology, whether that be political or religious, not guns (McVeigh didn't use a gun; the Tsarnaev brothers didn't use guns; etc.).

The common trait in mass shootings...mass SHOOTINGS...is guns.  Not all warped ideology results in mass shootings just like not all mass shootings are a result of warped ideology.  Changing the subject is not more accurate.

Except this was not a school shooting by some sick mental jerk. It was a terrorist attack on all United States. I really do not understand why those who are forever bashing Christians and Jews and Catholics and religion as whole every chance they get seem to bend over in preztel to ignore (President)  censor (Lorreta Lynch) or forgive (many here) when it is islam terrorist.

I bet if this scumbucket started yelling about killing people in the name of Pope, Jesus, Moses, David, L Ron Hubbard or Budda like he did about Allah and Isis there would be church and temple burnings all over the place.

"It was a terrorist attack on all United States"

Again, why do people like you INSIST on minimalizing the direct attack on the gay community in this HATE CRIME. Why is it more important to ramp up anti-Muslim rhetoric? Its disgusting and so stupid. But I'm sure you're a person who thinks #AllLivesMatter too.

Listen to Obama's speech on why he doesn't feel the need to say Islamic terror. And consider why you want him to say it so badly.

Really Roxy? The idea that if this man had done this attack in the name of a Christian leader or prophet then US citizens would've burnt down churches is "hitting the nail on the head"?

I'm 100% on the side of no guns. No one needs a gun except law enforcement and armed forces. However, a mass murderer who wants a gun will be able to get one, just like with drugs. So, if all guns were banned, I'd be happy about that, but I won't be naive enough to think that will end mass murder by guns.

It is called a hate crime. Is anything ISIS does not considered a hate crime? ANYONE'S life whose life is lost to these animals is sacred.

Chicago has the some of the strictest gun laws in the nation and yet every day there is like a war zone in Iraq. Does anyone seriously believe if there were a ban on guns those committing the crimes would not be able to get them?  Here is a news flash - they get them illegally and do not register them.Chicago proves this to be a fallacy - stricter gun laws will stop crime. It only means those who want it for self protection will not get them. . If you believe this fallacy, I have a bridge I would like to sell you.

Chicago has lots of guns despite their gun laws because you can drive across the boarder and buy as many guns as you wish with very little background checks. Much like how on the 4th of July New York is showered with illegal fireworks.

Yes. And that what happens when you have different gun legislation in every state. Chicago can have all the strict guns laws it wants but it isn't going to do any good when someone can hop in their car and just drive to another state to purchase thier guns.

That's why we need common sense gun regulation at the Federal level.

"  Paris and all of France has way stricter gun laws than North America does, but that didnt help any of the Paris attacks which have been many. Those animals still got guns, and lots of them. Charlie Hebo or Discotheques. I wish we were in world were guns do not exist but that is make believe.I am glad to see that gun sales are up in LGBT and women so we all can protect ourself against bad people

BeedleDeedle. I think you have it backwards, why are you denying the attack against United States?  You do not have to be LGBT to be sad and effected and angry about this. The terrorist did not say anything about gay to any of the victims, the police or the on phone. it was all about ISIS and Allah.  That doesnt change the LGBT tragedy,  it just explains his head. Would it be less tragedy if it was all straight people? or all Black or all Asian?  and we all know how islam feels about Gay, they have laws and death penalty against them.

Really? I didn't realize gangs drive over the border to legally purchase guns, and then bring them back to Chicago! Someone should probably tell them about the illegal black market that is prevalent in many other urban communities, but apparently not in Chicago! Interesting...

You guys who keep repeating "the bad guys will still get guns" miss the point.  If you make it harder to get guns less bad guys will be able to get them.  Ignore all the international data about gun laws in other countries, how we lead the league by a mile.  Just stick to your cliches, don't do any serious analysis, keep showing how idiotic you are by using these cliches.  The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun......

So because there are a relatively small amount of mass shootings in European countries that completely discredits their gun control measures? What kind of logic is that? These killings in Europe are horrific. But have a little perspective.

Wow so people in favor of gun control are like the Nazis. How original. Thanks for letting me know not to take anything you say in the future seriously!
