i mentioned this in another thread about the inordinate amount of southerners on this board. just curious, who here is originally from the south?
Not originally, but moved to the South at age 5, raised in the South, and have the accent to prove it.
Reborn Southern upon moving to North Carolina at the age of eight. I went all "Truman Capote" overnight and insisted on wearing linen to school the first day. My mother still curses the day she had to set her iron to linen or cotton.
Just like the others - I was born in Ohio but I was raised in Virginia and still live here.
Not born and raised, but spent 7 years of my childhood in West Virginia.
Ick.
Yay!
Like being forced out of the south for practicing fabulosity is such a bad thing...
Aren't they synonymous?
Oh, wait. *thinks of several exceptions* You're right.
Born and raised in Kentucky for 22, almost 23 years now.
Jaily, I also get pushed out of circles for other reasons.
Wait, come to think of it, that might be because of my fagulosity, too.
You Southerners are so snappy!
Hi, Kel!!! How's my favorite lil' Bluegrass Babe?

Born in the Great Country of Texas, lived there for 7 years, moved to Seattle for 3 and a half, moved back to Texas for 1, and then we moved to Delaware. Hoo-rah.
But I still consider myself a Texan, thank you very much.
Let's hear it for their decidedly superior fast food selection, and Luby's. I have to get lipo after every visit to the South.
I still blame my thighs on the Piccadilly Cafeteria.
Stuck in Georgia my whole life.
I blame my gut on the "country cooking" restaurant across the street from me.
We even bought our grocery's at the Piggly Wiggly --speaks volumes.
I STILL shop at Piggly Wiggly.

I blame my childhood weight problem, the consequences of which still haunt my lower back and thighs, solely on Blue Bell Ice Cream.
Thank God they don't ship to the north, or I else I'd be the Fattest Man in The World.
I was born in Georgia and lived there for about 14 years, in the middle of those I`spent 8 years in the land of enchantment known as Alabama, another 2 in North Carolina, then I got the heck outta dodge.
Somms, I have been known to frequent the Piccadilly my heart hurts with the thought, but my mouth she waters.
WW, the Pig isn't the only grocery store in Shadowville, branch out.
SOMMS, I'm dying. Picadilly. Lord. My dad's favorite place. our choir director in college was my friend's dad. Three times a week - THREE TIMES! - he took his wife there for dinner.
But, let me tell you, the best fried okra this side of mama's kitchen.
LostLEander, oh, but htey DO! Blue Bell day-ships half-gallons...it's expensive, though, so you can comfort yourself in the fact that you need to be wealthy to afford Blue Bell up here.
i hate to tell you, lost, but after years of not ever hearing of it, blue bell ice cream is all over the northeast now.
Does Southern Italy count?
don't you have a showing of jersey boys to go to?
When I was the Men's Manager at Ivey's just after college I used to loathe working on Sunday's. Not because it was Sunday, but because everyone would come into the store after eating at the Picadilly and leave their used toothpicks all over the tops of the store fixtures.
