Shbrt, while Lezak certainly deserves our congratulations, I think saying the he won Phelps two golds is overstating the case. I'll give you the first one, but Michael gave the team enough of a lead last night that I think he deserves some of the credit!

Let's hear it for the "old broads".. Did you see that Romanian woman win the marathon? She's 37 and has a teenage son! She was so far ahead of everyone!

Mom, we went there yesterday! re: the olympics! official thread of all-things games!

Here's an article that was in the NY Times about the ages of athletes at the Olympics this year. Apparently, the oldest is 67. How cool is that?

Thanks Papa for setting the record straight. She was amazing. Bolt was also amazing- I can't believe how he coasted at the end. When they interviewed him, they asked him if he could have broken the record had he not coasted. He basically said he didn't care- he just wanted to win gold. I was rooting for Dix- a fellow Florida State alum. I couldn't believe the height difference between Bolt and Dix. That race was fun to watch!

Sorry Papa- I thought he broke one record but not both. Couldn't remember which one (WR or OR)- guess I was a little too tired last night!

Bolt broke both the OR and the WR.

They were saying that had he not coasted for the last 15 meters, he would have probably completely shattered the WR with a 9.59 instead of 9.69.

Absolutely incredible.

Thanks sticktopriest. I guess I was a little confused or just wasn't paying attention enough. I have never seen anyone win that race the way Bolt did!

Currently watching USA Women's Beach Volleyball team (Youngs/Branagh) get pummeled by the CHN team... I almost don't want to finish watching the set.... USA has simply-handed the win to those two VERY young and talented CHN girls... Their post-game interview was so depressing!

WARNING GRAPHIC VIDEO:

Not exactly sure what happened, but totally looks like his right shoulder popped out of its socket AND the bar drops on his back on his way down. Geezus...

I have been into these Olympic games than any other in the past.
Something about these games are so thrilling and intense.
From the amazingly beautiful opening ceremonies to Michael Phelps becoming the most decorated Olympian in history to all the close matches/games/races.
They've been so much fun to watch.
It'll be sad when they end.
And can I just say that Ricky Berens and Ryan Lochte are the best thing to happen to swimming! hahaha

Oh no he definitely deserves it but Lezak solidified the win re: the olympics! official thread of all-things games! Hehe

And wow, I felt so awful for that poor weightlifter. Have there been any updates on his condition? Updated On: 8/17/08 at 06:15 PM

You can say that again: YAY!! Michael Phelps interview!

How adorable is he? Not just a phenom swimmer and incredibly humble and such a great team-player... but as he proves with his "wardrobe malfunction" comment, has a sense of humor!

I never got tired of seeing that gigantic smile every time he was on the podium. Updated On: 8/17/08 at 07:28 PM

re: the olympics! official thread of all-things games!

HAHAHA He's calling-out those damn schoolyard bullies!!! Heeelllll yeah! In yo face!

He's so well-grounded and forward-thinking.

And that's the 20-millionth time I've heard of Facebook referred-to during these Games. It's the day and age.

His mother is incredible. And how much did your heart MELT when he was complimenting her, put his arm around her...

And the VERY LAST SECOND of the interview, going into commercial, the Olympic Theme Song plays and Mom leans over, grabs his face, and kisses his cheek. PERFECT TIMING!

Adonis. Idols. PERFECT bodies.

The Russian who started was a dish, but 2nd competitor (in the short red shorts) is just beautiful (inspite of landing on his butt)

OH GOODNESS! The upset and disappointment on the Brazilian Diego Hypolito's face was excruciating to watch!

ALICIA SACRAMONE WAS JUST ROBBED!!!!

On Vault, she placed 4th beneath 2 error-ridden gymnasts!

Bronze went to CHINA who FELL on their second run
Gold went to KOREA who landed with feet OUTSIDE the line

Meanwhile, Alicia landed and stuck two STRONG and GOOD vaults with no technical deductions (minus a small hop on landing)

BULLSH*T! She worked soooo hard this entire Games and got shafted AGAIN! Ridiculous.
