If you are a male and you work out regularly, a pint of ice cream once in a while actually isn't bad for you at all. Of course, get something that's fat free, but the amount of protein in one pint of ice cream balances out the calories and fat. It's not bad.

I swear I weigh 176 lbs. I'm 6'1". Admittedly, some of that weight is muscle, but not a whole lot. That's what I get for eating out every night for 7 months.

Actually, I weigh a little more than that right now. I keep fluctuating up from 175 and I'm going back down. Again. Le sigh.

Do you get kicked out of the club when you take a leak and drop down to 174.5?

I've been dealing with my mortal enemies ED (Eating Disorder) and Terrance (the tape work) lately and have been eating like mad.

Fortunately, I've only gained one lb and I'm at 192.5, but I am getting back on the train full speed today. I still have time to meet my original goal of 185 by Thanksgiving and I have had more than adequate time to pout about hitting a wall.

You'll do it, Patronus. What I really wish is that that little b*tch Jerby didn't live in Queens or wherever the heck far-off borough he lives and would be my gym buddy. I need motivation in there!

ETA: Munk, you probably actually look a lot better now at 6'1" and around 170-175. That's not bad at all! Not skinny but the twinkie look gets old fast.

I think a gym buddy is what I need, of course I also need to figure out how to use the gym properly at all. I tend to freak out at all the machines and people who look like they know what they are doing and go home.
You will be right on it P. No worries Weigh In
Colleen, yes.

CRUNCH is horrible. The gym may be nice, but I have had nothing but horrendous experiences with them. I could write a book. One incident lasted a whole year, and it was horrible. Apparantly, I wasn't the only one because it made news right after they finally corrected the situation.

I've been to a few different gyms, and New York Health and Racquet club is by far, my favorite. I think if you join now, you can get a deal for $90 a month. It's a GREAT gym.

I deal with Crunch indirectly through my corporate program, so the associated discount more than makes up for any problem I've ever had with them.

$90 a month for New York? That is a bargain given what they usually charge.
I am in New York Sports Club because, like Calvin, I get a corporate discount there.

With my corporate discount, I could get into New York Health and Racquet for about $70 a month, but that's still a bit steep for me.

If I got a gym membership, bway, we'd still have the same problem we are going to have with "you know what"--when the hell are we both not working?? lol (LATE Fridays, Saturday afternoons, Sunday eves, and Monday eves)

But, I am considering NYSC in the near future. I'd make sure I could go to any location as I have one a block from my apt and less than a block from my work.

munk, for some people, what you are saying is right. Some people CAN eat all they want if they are working out. Some people CAN eat a pint of Ben & Jerry's once in a while and be fine.

But, most people (I would say) need structure in what they eat for a myriad of reasons. I eat absolutely whatever I want, but I only eat as much as I can budget in my day---which has taught me portions and better food choices. I am living with these new choices and I am so happy with the results.

My working out comes in phases lol. I will work out religiously for two - three months and then stop for a month or two. Better than nothing.

But, I was finally able to say goodbye to "fat Jerby" last year. I feel GREAT about my body right now. I'm in that place where I want to make it even better--for my career, for me, for boys---for a myriad of reasons. (Yes, that is the "word of the day") :)

What I am doing this week is refreshing my discipline by doing something strict that will also cleanse me of certain bad habits physically and mentally. I feel 100% in control again after slipping over the summer. And, I am in one week getting back to where I was before the summer, too! And that's inspiring when you haven't lost any weight in a while.

Fortunately, doing WW at least recklessly prevented me from gaining much at all.

I'm a sexy bitch! And you are, too!

lol! Munk, most of the gyms in this city are a bit of a troll haven.
but, to my knowledge, I've never been accosted while working out, and the weight/cardio areas are where I spend the vast majority of my time in the gym, despite what Jerby will tell you. Weigh In

Back to the subject, though...tomorrow's my weekly weigh-in, so here's hoping for a modest loss.

ok--one week down

last week: 162
this week: 158.6
difference: -3.4

That's pretty cool! It's a lot less than what I lost before during the first week of SB--but I'm also nowhere as heavy as I was back then, and it would seem that heavy folks lose more at a time than less heavy folks. It is a great loss for on WW (thought the web site yelled at me for losing too much) and a thrilling loss for me in general. I am back to where I was in May. If this continues, I will be at my lowest point by next week--maybe even a new lowest point.

Congrats to you jerby! Nice work.

I am going to gloat for a moment if I may...

Starting weight 141
Today's weight 131.5

A mere 8 more ounces and I will have lost 10 pounds. Hoping that will show up tomorrow (Friday is when I make my weight "official" each week).

Feeling very proud of my thin self.

Since I'm a bit of foodie, I am always experimenting in the kitchen (following a weight loss prgram has been a challenge). So I'm trying to create some new recipes.

I have discovered that low fat sour cream heated slowly with a bit of chicken broth and some parm cheese, salt and cracked pepper makes a halfway decent mock alfredo sauce for pasta. I'm still perfecting the amounts and consistency, but I think I might be on to something...will keep ya'll posted.

I want to gloat, too!

I tried weighing without shoes for once the other day, and I was down to about 162 (and that was still with shorts and a shirt on). Woo hoo! I'm about to be seeing that magical five in the 10s place for the first time since, well, high school probably. Weigh In

All in all, I've lost more than 30 pounds -- closer to 40 actually -- since leaving New Jersey.
