Bleh. Allergies suck. In 6 hours, my sinuses manage to completely clog up to the point of pain.

I've heard the benefit recording of Chess, but based on the pictures I've seen, I don't really want to hear the other versions.

There's actually kind of a long thread where we debated some of this, PoisonedRose. I'm kind of in the minority that likes Pity the Child in Act 1 because it just rings hollow for me coming after the fact. If you were interested: https://forum.broadwayworld.com/readmessage.cfm?thread=885356&dt=68

Okay, really leaving now.

Danish Freddie reminds of me of a poor man's Adam Pascal. I think he's obnoxious on Bangkok, but that's somewhat of an inherently obnoxious song. Otherwise, I think he's... very good. Nothing that really makes me go "wow," but he sings the part with a decent amount of passion and can handle the notes. I wish I could elaborate on my feelings, but I really don't feel vehemently either way about him.

To me, Murray Head doesn't do the part justice. A question that was brought up on another thread was if Pity the Child is supposed to be a song reflecting Freddie's character just drowning himself in self-pity, as he's done for the whole show, or a final appeal to the audience to sympathize with him. I initially view it as the latter (whether it's successful is another matter), but I think the former is just as valid of an opinion as well. If the song is viewed as Freddie just wallowing in his own despair, then I think Murray does justice to the song. Unfortunately, wailing and whining your way through the song really puts a damper on the whole song, which may be why I choose to view it as a song that should be song as an impassioned plea to the audience. I think his Bangkok is definitive, and I love the snarky tone in his voice. I think he's generally simply decent to subpar on the rest of the songs. He makes a better Judas than a Freddie, but really, I just don't think he's all that vocally talented.

As far as the OBC goes... I'd buy it for 15 cents, but you're not missing much. Castoff (Freddie) and Anatoly annoy me. Judy Kuhn is an AMAZING Florence, though. I'd probably just download her Nobody's Side. I also like the song No Contest, which is set to the tune of Florence Quits.

i definitely agree that freddy is looking for someone who understands him. after florence makes it clear that she doesn't feel the same way about him, he's sort of broken. that's all he's wanted for a year and now it's gone.

i actually like danish one night in bangkok better because it's a little less techno esque.

sweetsirent, thank you for posting that thread. i have to go now, but i will certainly read it another time.

it was nice meeting you all. :)

I find it hard to sympathize with Freddie (Freddy? heh, who knows) at all. Florence may make it clear to him that she doesn't feel the same way about him, but he's treating her horribly as well. I think PTC, when performed well, does stir up some, well, pity within me, but other than that, I think it's about time Florence left him. Sleeping with a married man is another issue...

Nice meeting you as well!

I think I need a nap, but I know it's going to throw off my sleeping pattern yet again.

I'm also one of the few without a myspace. Most importantly, BWW is enough of an addiction without starting that which many have told me is addicting. Moreover, I have facebook, which was pretty much useful for before I moved into my dorm, and was cool in the beginning, especially when the most random people would find you. But now I hardly use it--the one thing about it I realize is awesome though is that I could post pictures, and unlike, photobucket, people can comment on them. That's what I've been using it for lately.

Myspace seems like it just has way too many features. And I think it has some sort of like...you rank your friends? I really don't like the idea of that. There are a lot of people I consider my close friends and each has their own special quality--I don't want to compare them or rank them or anything, and I wouldn't want someone to do it to me.

Oh, my class was cancelled or shortened... whatever. YAY!

I have a facebook and a myspace... I don't see the difference, both are annoying.

And I really need to figure out Chess so I know what the hell you guys are talking about sometimes. (I swear I will, Ash!)

I accidently signed out of bww yesterday. Because I usually stayed signed in, it shows me pages in a thread that I have and haven't been to. And there were some in this one that I was going to go check back and see if I had missed any pictures or links. But now I cant. Sigh..

The Chess Benefit is actually the only version I've seen/heard. That's definetly not a bad thing. <3

Well, first I went to Tower Records on the way home from class to try and pick out a birthday gift for my brother and some creepy old guy started hitting on me (random tangent: why is it that I only get hit on when I think I look like crap?)

Then, I got back to my dorm, opened up the e-mail notifying me of my housing assignment for next year, which turned out to be a notification that more people applied for housing than they have spaces for, so they won't be able to assign me to a building for next year until mid-June after people with assignments decide not to take them.

Aw, BG that does suck. Do you have any off campus options at all?

SD, You said "Danish Freddie reminds of me of a poor man's Adam Pascal." So you mean to tell me that Danish Freddie would actually be caught out of the house in sweats that weren't Christian Dior?!?! re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part eight

JLS, I'm pretty sure I do have a couple of off-campus options - they're a bit further from campus than I'd like, but if I wind up with a really crappy housing assignment come mid-June, I'll probably wind up going to one of them. The annoying thing is that I'll already have had to pay $1000 in non-refundable deposits by the time I find out where campus housing has space for me.

On another note, the sweatpants comment cracked.me.up, and that's not an easy feat at the moment.

Aww, what happened Em? I hope you feel better soon.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part eight *hugs Emcee and BG*

The Adam Rapp articles in the news section keep catching my attention. Just the familiar names are distracting enough to make me keep looking up.

Me too, skittles. There were articles yesterday about Adam's tour, and even though I knew what it was about, just seeing his name kept making me look.

I agree with SD, I think it was, who said Head didn't give the role of Freddie justice. Its unfortunate that I heard the benefit first, before I really started exploring Chess....as everything I listen to isn't Adam/Raul/Josh/Julia/whoever...and therefore my opinion isn't as, well, undecided as it should be...

Ugh, I really hope the housing situation works out, Jessica. I know that that's such a headache to have to deal with. And I'm sorry about your hand, Emcee. re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part eight

I won my election. But I had to turn down going out to celebrate because I have an exam to study for.
