Oh, girl. I'm glad the medication is starting to kick in. It sucks being sick, and sinus stuff is just the worst.

You're more than welcome.
Ahhh, what a long day.
My track meet started at 8:30 and ended at 6:30, and I had to stay till the end because I ran the last race. And it was so cold.
But one of my friends started reading Without You when we were sitting in the bleachers, and really loves it.
Sounds very chilly. I gave a copy of the book to a friend of mind too, but I don't think she's read it yet. She's someone who knew nothing about Rent when she saw the movie and absolutely loved it, so I expect she'll really like it.
*hugs laptop*
Finally, my parents are asleep and I can go online!
The only thing exciting about my day was that I went to Tower Records and they were playing the Rent soundtrack. They were up to La Vie Boheme, and I wouldn't leave until I Should Tell You was over.
This is very subjective. but I feel like the movie has gotten a new lease on life as a DVD release.

I'm sorry for asking this again, but does anyone have the data for how much the Rent DVD has earned in dollars? I'm so curious.
Jessica, you're good at this kind of stuff, right?
I'm curious about that too. And are all the sales to rental places counted in, or is it just retail sales?
Lexi, my Soundscan contact told me he doesn't have access to DVD sales figures I've been trying to search for them online, but I haven't had any luck. From what I've read in Billboard, DVDs get a gold certification from the RIAA for shipping 50,000 units or selling $1 million at the suggested retail price, and platinum for twice that, so that'll be something to keep an eye on as I look at the Billboard charts in the near future.
Chloe, that's an interesting point you bring up. I think that in the past, rental places paid a higher price for videotapes than consumers did, so I wonder if those sales are viewed as sales of a separate "rental version" that aren't counted with consumer sales.
It seems like those sales would be huge, if the majority of places bought a couple of copies for rental. There must be thousands of Blockbusters alone.
I'm wondering if perhaps the video rental places underestimated demand for the movie and didn't purchase that many copies, as the DVD took the top 2 places on the sales chart but isn't even in the top 10 on the rentals chart.
I just watched Rent.
I watched it this morning before the track meet

I just listened to the second disc of the OBC recording all the way through twice for the first time in a very long time. I wanted to listen to Seasons of Love to get a feel for the piano because I'm learning to play it on the piano. I couldn't stop listening though.
They were playing the Rent DVD on the TV screens at Virgin Records when I was there last week, so I guess that's a good sign.

I was watching it over a couple of nights when I couldn't sleep.
I'm watching it tomorrow morning
I need to watch it again. I've been watching the documentary but not the film.
Possibly there are a lot more people interested in owning it than renting it at this point. I can picture the rentals being relatively low key, then possibly building. it's not the kind of movie you rent for a relaxing evening munching popcorn exactly. it's kind of all or nothing - hence the sales.
Good point, Chloe. I would imagine that especially with the documentary, it's something that people will want to own rather than just view once.
I had been watching RENT so much and just last night I randomly started to watch Bad Boys II, total switch.
Ha, thats amusing.
