Thanks, it amuses me.
I just watched the deleted scenes with my parents. My mom loved the alternate ending, my dad thought it was cheesy that Angel came back; he apparently forgot that that's how it is in the show. For some reason, the alternate ending always makes me burst into tears when Angel comes out and grabs Collins' hand. My mom did ask what was different at first, and if maybe Mimi dies in this version. She also thought Goodbye Love explained a lot, and needed to be there. She asked if it was cut because of time constraints, and I had a hard time explaining to her why it was gone because now after seeing it, it just sounds so lame to me. And I'm sitting here spewing something I was once okay with.
Did anyone see Cybele on TV this morning, by the way? I missed it.
Only New Yorkers were able to catch Cybele. I woke up early and watched the Today show for no reason.
I know what you mean. I'd certainly like to have the chance to see the movie in a theater with Goodbye Love back in, cutting directly from where the cemetary scene ends now to the exterior of the loft.
Two or three of us saw Cybele. She wasn't on nationally after all, just the NYC hour of Today before the national version starts. She looked great and was quite well spoken. If you scroll back, you'll see some posts about it.

isn't Cybele going to try and upload it and post it on her blog site?

Em, go to page 43.
And I agree the "justification" behind deleting GL was very lame. One of my friends who likes Rent and I were literally laughing at it a few weeks ago. Oh well.

Until I SAW Goodbye Love for myself, I wanted to believe Columbus. Now that I've seen it, I think he's a wimp.

I like this idea
I agree. I think that it's a scene that's actually really important to how people perceive the movie. Mark has just about zero character development without GL (and Halloween, but that cut I can understand). I know that it's depressing to think in retrospect, but I think the movie might've gotten at least marginally better reviews if that scene had been left in.

I had gotten over Goodbye Love being cut, and was ok with it. Then I saw it, and now I'm mad all over again.

But... "IT WAS TOO EMOTIONAL!!"
Hee. I'm never going to be able to change it now, am I?
No, never. He's the cutest thing in the world. My mom talked to me about him today!

Like I said, I'd like to see it in a theater with an audience. That's the only way you can really feel how something's working. But I know what you all mean and it does feel like an important scene.

I think it WAS in the theater. It was in the movie in some early previews or something, and then he decided to cut it out.

I think I wanna sneeze on Columbus.
What did she say?
I remember being so excited when I found this picture. He's so cute. I have, however, gotten hit on with it via PM because I suppose he's not particularly recognizable yet.
You should, Sarah.

My pineapple got hit on, that was interesting.
I agree with the general consensus in that I was okay with the decisions Chris had made until I saw the deleted scenes and listened to his rationale for cutting them as stated in the commentary. I'm not just talking about Goodbye Love, even though that's the big one - his "I wish there was more Taye in the movie" comment was just jaw-dropping in its stupidity, considering that he had the power to do that but actually chose to go in the opposite direction.
How does one hit on a pineapple, exactly?
