In the Sondheim vein, "Ladies Who Lunch" or "Could I Leave You".
And for a duet with Norbert, "You Must Meet My Wife" (and Raúl has to sing Desiree's part").
I will guaranteed burst into tears of joy if he does The Ladies Who Lunch.
And for a change of pace, what about "Aldonza" from Man Of La Mancha?

I"ve been hoping for a Pascal/Butz/Esparza trio of Matchmaker, Matchmaker for years. Though I gott a say it would be fun to hear him sing Lets Hear it for the Boy, or I Don't Do Sadness.
I have iTunes on shuffle, and "Being Intense" just came up. I haven't heard this in ages, and I had forgotten how funny it was. I am appreciating the genius all over again.
West Side Story revival will have started previews. It's "Hoy Me Siento Hermosa" now.
Even better, no?
Oh dear lord! If he can get hold of those lyrics....

Or even better a bilingual version like "O Holy Night."
Hmm, there's a post that isn't showing up.
Ohhh, BAD BWW, eating posts again!

It was my message. I was going to suggest that Raúl do "Last Midnight" from Into the Woods. After all, we already know he can pull off a good Witch! Just look at his performance of "Defying Gravity" that's on Youtube!!
-Andi :)
I can see you now!
I had also thought On the Steps of the Palace might be cute.

"The Music that Makes Me Dance" from FUNNY GIRL - if he can hit some of those Barbra notes.

I just saw Raul's Time Warp performance at Broadway on Broadway. Holy freaking crap. I have NEVER heard him sing like that. The only thing that I think comes close to it was that time he sang "God Give Me Strength". But not even then!
Not only that, but I don't think I've ever seen him perform with such abandon, excitement, or energy. Hair, maybe?
Oh, and another thing...he looks so CUBAN!!! I LOVE it! SO freaking HOOOOOOOT!
God Give Me Strength is one of my favorite things. Ever. That performance was nothing short of epic.
There is a rumor that Raúl is shooting an episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent this week. Anyone heard anything about that?
No, Raul, don't succumb to the stage actor cliche!!
Kidding. That would be cool.
Huh. (Almost) any sighting of Raul would be great.
I guess he will never be able to use Chris Sieber's Spamalot bio line now.

Law and Order, awesome. Raul Esparza is a master of postponing but never eluding the theater stereotypes.
(I'm probably seeing Rent tonight. So. I'm going to miss Raul tonight. Last time I talked to Cary Shields I at least had Raul there to exchange grounding "this guy is crazy, right?" glances with.)

OK, a tiny bit more to the rumor about the Criminal Intent gig.
Its filming next week (not this week), and....they're also casting for an on-camera photo double who can portray him as a woman.
WTF??
